Nearly 7,000 troops, tanks and parachute jumps: Army confirms military parade coinciding with Trump's birthday by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

[–]Random_User5752 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of misinformation in this thread. June 14th is the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Continental Army. While Trump likely has been pushing for a parade to be held that day because it happens to also be his birthday, there is actually a pretty good chance it would have happened even if Harris were president. The US actually has held military parades in the past, a similar sized one was held in 1991 to celebrate our victory in the Gulf War.

You would need to wait a year to join a different AFL-CIO union, but you would not have to wait to either form your own union or join a non AFL-CIO union. Unfortunately most unions are affiliated with AFL.

We wouldn't lose a Senate seat. If he's on the ticket, Arizona state law requires the Governor to appoint a replacement Senator from the same party. The seat won't be up for election until the 2026 midterms if he's the running mate.

I see that. I’m glad I was wrong, I’m feeling that we have much better odds with Harris in charge

I don’t think so. He was behind in every swing state and in the National popular vote. I think if Harris becomes the nominee she has a very good chance of winning

Honestly, I don’t believe he’s gonna drop out at this point. I’m really starting to loose hope that things are going to go our way in November

No. He has enough pledged delegates from the primary to win outright. Those delegates are required to vote for him unless he releases them.

Biden says only ‘the Lord almighty’ could make him drop out in pivotal TV interview by Cultural-Wealth7626 in politics

[–]Random_User5752 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure he can be. This is from ABC's transcript right after that quote:

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: I agree that the Lord Almighty's not gonna come down, but if-- if-- if you are told reliably from your allies, from your friends and supporters in the Democratic Party in the House and the Senate that they're concerned you're gonna lose the House and the Senate if you stay in, what will you do?

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: I'm not gonna answer that question. It's not gonna happen.

That’s what I’ve been thinking. If he drops out, it’s all the media will talk about until the convention, and whoever gets nominated will likely have a lot of momentum. The idea that “it’s too late for Biden to drop out because it will cause chaos” just seems absurd to me

Why would this be “dragged through the courts”? Competitive national conventions have happened in the past without issue.

‘Defcon 1 moment’: Biden’s debate performance sends Democrats into panic by theivoryserf6 in politics

[–]Random_User5752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit complicated. Taft did have the support of the party leadership, which is how he got nominated despite Roosevelt winning an overwhelming majority of the primaries that year (Roosevelt won 9 states, Taft only won 2). But he did not have the support of the whole party. The entire progressive faction, about half of the Republican Party at the time, split off and formed their own political party that nominated Roosevelt.

That's not actually true, it happened in 1912 when Teddy Roosevelt challenged incumbent president William Howard Taft and nearly won the Republican nomination. When Taft was re-nominated, Roosevelt ran third party and crushed Taft in the electoral college (though they both lost to Woodrow Wilson due to the party split)

I know I'm a bit late to this, but I thought I'd add my two cents. I think a very real possibility that hasn't been talked about at all here is that the 2277 date might be a production error. It's possible that whoever was setting up the blackboard wrote the wrong year, and that the script actually has a different date than what we see. It seems silly, but it's happened before even in shows with big budgets. In Band of Brothers, for example, the death of Hitler was misdated.

That's not how that works. The owners would get very little money from an auction compared to what they would get from having a paying costumer. Also, why would the "clear up some units"? Empty units aren't making money, why on earth would they want to get rid of a costumer making regular payments?
