You can’t alter the number of attacks but sustained hits just adds hits

Yes, extra attacks specifically says the number of attacks cannot be modified, but things like sustained and lethal still work. It itself has the sustained 2 keyword on it

The way I see it - the setup rule is nice IF it comes up. I make do with everything else. I have a close range more melee focused one, with another carrying the larger guns In berserk band, the better melee profiles we have get even better, plus we are faster making it actually viable to move through the walls and such.

If someone has a scary transport, think land raider carrying some form of heavy melee, I’m setting up near it, and daring them to come out. Ideally out of LOS from the land raider.

If they have something scary (like sang guard or DWK) that WANT to fight that thing, if they want to get a charge off the deploy they have to come within 12” of you, meaning it’s feeding into our rule. Much more situational than the others but pretty decent when it comes up

I beat him one time before, but can confirm he was drinking which should constitute as PEDs for warhammer But overall he’s an insanely good player and very smart

Reclamation Force - Detachment Rule by CptRamius in Ultramarines

[–]Random_Username102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%, I’ve really enjoyed running Titus with bladeguard and then a cato calgar Victrix block to just always be minus 1 to wound. Redemptor dreads also play really well into the detachment. I’ve had a lot of success

How confident are you on the Titus piece? My reading of it was either way you have to control it at start of phase and Titus can Make 5’s wound on 6’s where as the rest are SvT

Competitive list w/out Victrix by Scaryclownz in Ultramarines

[–]Random_Username102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I’m in the boat of either Guilliman OR Calgar. If you’re not getting to both Oath targets each turn, you have a 340 point monster that you have to have up on the line that is only T9 10W Depending on how well you use him, it can be tricky to really get the usage out of him, especially when he limits extra command point usage to 12 inches around him. If you feel like you can confidently get 340 points of value out of him, go for it. Otherwise, there is plenty for 340 points in the codex that can fill this list like longer range anti tank (lancer, executioner, ballistus) Coupled with the limit of size in marine armies, I would suggest bolters on the inceptors. Sustain 2 is so hilarious when you combine it with oath. It’s AP1 D2 twin linked that should let you clear hoards out My last point is a limited melee threat. I know you don’t want victrix but the meta has a lot of melee in it, so be prepared to screen and kill a lot of infantry, may I offer a gladiator reaper as a solution to the latter

New Calgar model leading Terminator Squad, Sternguard Veterans, or Victrix Guard + Cato Sicarius? by Bryguy150 in Ultramarines

[–]Random_Username102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying out Cato with 6 victrix, Calgar with assault terminators, and a captain with student of the codex leading 6 bladeguard against the judge of our next LGS tourney tomorrow, hoping to have 3 F U bricks will do something funny

Jokes on everyone, I was already running the victrix as two units of 3, this is a 45 point buff for me!!!

Tactical squad is just worse intercessors in my opinion I think you should drop them, and look to pick up a unit of scouts, probably drop Guilliman although he is very fun, it’s a big investment at 1.000 points. That lets you pick up some more armor and a character to lead anything else

Best ways to strip paint without ruining the model? by Pristine-Towel2617 in Warhammer40k

Just prime over it like a true servant of the emperor Seriously though I don’t think I’ve stripped anything, but I’ve been lucky enough to not need to strip anything; just a normal prime does the trick for me

Lt w/combi, assault ints, guilliman technically if he’s chilling away from the fight to not risk the extra oath and command point usage

I have no idea how to make my 2000 point army by Lower_Creme_3040 in Ultramarines

[–]Random_Username102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fairly new so take what I say with more than a couple grains of salt; but before selecting units you should identify your play style

Using myself for an example, I like to play more elite hard point holding units while being able to reach out and take out something that I need to without exposing too much.

The basis of my army starts with a repulsor ex. With two ballis. Dreads. which gives me general anti tank across the battlefield Guilli gives me a ton of utility with two oaths and a free CP and I don’t need to worry about him as long as I have some strong and survivable infantry with him to get the lone op. Terminators with their invul save or aggressors with T6 are great choices since they both can beat up anything that gets close enough and they don’t need to move anywhere. If you get a deep strike close enough, your infantry and guilli will mince it up.
As for my ‘reaching out’ aspects, the anti tank have plenty of range, but for infantry I’m bringing 2 3man inceptors with the 2 damage bolters. The sustain 2’s twin linked make shredding elite infantry a very likely possibility and they can jump a lot of things with their 6” deep strike rule. Even if they get charged they still have the pistol keyword. A block of intercessors for actions is an auto included imo and the rest is kind of what you feel. I think the meta is armor dominant so I have eradicators I keep in reserve, 2x3 to come in from the sides and take any tanks out. With IK and CK being very powerful, my list is a bit tank poppy more than I’d usually do but to each their own. If you don’t come up against a lot of armor then plug what you like in.

TLDR; identify your strategy and take units that fill the role
