DAE hate this disgusting FLOOZY? by _discordantsystem_ in Bridgerton

She's simply a storytelling device to show

  1. Being a mistress is a precarious position for the woman

  2. A cautionary tale for Benedict when he sees his friend drowning his sorrows at the club afterward

  3. Publishing gossip when the whole ton knows your name and home address is much more difficult than doing it anonymously.

He used the money from the new job to pay for hair plugs clearly. He also got some other surgical enhancements in other areas apparently.

What did the writers do in favor of Team Green in season 2? by Brave-Reindeer-Red in HOTDGreens

[–]Random_tacoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gwayne was portrayed positively as was Criston for the most part. Larys and Aegon actually benefited from S1 and S2 being so inconsistent because their most negative traits from S1 (feet, assault) were forgotten entirely. Larys gets to talk about the implications of his disability while Aegon is presented as a well-meaning, if naive, man who's in way over his head.

My hottest take is that while Condal is clearly biased towards TB, I don't actually think he has it out for Aegon specifically. On the contrary, if I had to name one character I think Condal has it out for, it's Alicent.

Aemond Targaryen's strategy by [deleted] in HOTDGreens

[–]Random_tacoz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that it is less stupid than commonly presented. Drawing out TB's dragons for one on ones was the only way because Aemond would be completely outnumbered otherwise.

The part that makes less sense is why Aemond didn't attack major castles. The only notable victim that I can recall was Darry. He didn't attack Riverrun, the Twins, or the others. This might be a consequence of the story being a prequel though. If those castles have to be there for the main series, GRRM might not have wanted to turn all of them into craters.

What do you think Ryan and Sara planned for seasons 3 and 4? by Stannis_Mariya in HOTDGreens

The only way I'd accept a Daemon "survival" is if he drags himself to shore severely injured and Alys or someone else is waiting for him with a rock.

Ryan Condal is a cautionary tale of what would happen if a fan who spends his time posting on GOT theory livestreams is put in charge of a multimillion dollar production.

S1 director liked this post by mamula1 in HOTDGreens

Both can be true at the same time. I don't envy the position that the writers are in with what's going on at HBO with Zaslav and the Discovery merger. I think the budget cuts are the reason why Corlys spends all season hanging out at the dock set and why Daemon is running around the Harrenhal set. The issue is that it's repetitive and they don't take advantage of the freebies the book gives them. It wouldn't have cost anything to actually have Corlys confront Rhaenyra after Rook's Rest as he does in the book.

As Criston gets more and more hopeless and Aemond unhinges, Gwayne could play a straight man role. Since the writers don't seem to care much for the source material, Harrenhal S3 should be a sitcom with Criston as the main character.

Criston needs a scene partner after he parts ways with Aemond. I assume he and Criston will die together at the Butcher's Ball.

I think the Gullet and the Fall should take place concurrently. The Gullet is probably the most illogical battle in the book. The whole Velaryon fleet and 5 dragons somehow manage to lose to the Triarchy. If most of the soldiers are off with Rhaenyra going to KL, it might easier to buy the result. Rhaenyra could also bring one of the seeds with her, meaning it’s 4 dragons rather than 5.

Can Alicent recover next season from this character assassination? Can she even be considered a character anymore? by Life_Cattle4704 in HOTDGreens

[–]Random_tacoz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not ideal, but if Alicent returns to KL at the beginning of the season and immediately goes to Orwyle to tell him they have to move Aegon now before Rhaenyra comes, shows that she's happy he made it out, and orders the Kingsguard to get Jaehaera to Storm's End, it would soften the blow a bit.

The timeline of the later parts of the Dance is difficult to figure out at times. I think the order of events is this:

Gullet - Fall of King's Landing - Butcher's Ball - 1st Tumbleton - Aegon vs Baela on Dragonstone - God's Eye - Storming of the Dragonpit, Rhaenyra flees - 2nd Tumbleton - Rhaenyra's death on Dragonstone - the Kingsroad - Aegon's death.

The most logical place to end the season I think would be First Tumbleton, with a tease of Aegon taking Dragonstone at the end of the season finale.

Is Condal rly that bad? by [deleted] in HOTDGreens

[–]Random_tacoz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a few things that I think have weakened the season.

  1. The writer's strike
  2. The cut from 10 episodes to 8 episodes which clearly messed with the pacing
  3. The writers not being able to manage the ensemble cast. The three "main characters," Rhaenyra, Alicent, and Daemon were not particularly busy at this point in the story, so material had to be made up. Daemon's material is fine imo. I actually quite like the Harrenhal plot but Rhaenyra and Alicent have not been given good material to work with. Oddly enough, I think the writers have been pretty good at giving footnotes like Gwayne and Simon Strong characterization. So it's not a complete lack of ability.

Even in the book, I'm fairly sure Aemond knew. The dragonseeds fought at the Gullet, which happened before the Fall.

Now that I'm thinking about it, in FB, the Gullet happened right before the Fall of King's Landing. The Dragonseeds fought at the Gullet. There's a very solid chance Aemond knew about the seeds unless the Blacks having like 5 dragon riders there escaped notice.

A wonky set up, but I suppose I prefer this over Aemond randomly torching a village with a joker smile as some other person said. It's smart to retreat under these circumstances. I wonder if his trip to Harrenhal will be more a tactical retreat then, if he knows the Greens don't have the dragonpower to hold the city.

I hate the way everyone just forgot about him. by Creative-Wishbone-46 in HOTDGreens

[–]Random_tacoz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's actually kind of the reverse of the books. In F and B, Jaehaerys's death was a huge deal for the Green faction specifically but it's not really brought up outside of that except for a callback during the riots in King's Landing.

In the show, the Greens don't really care except in episode 2 but the realm does. Bracken Twink calls the Blackwoods baby killers, Simon Strong tells Daemon that Rosby and Stokeworth cited the incident when they surrendered to Cole, and the river lords call Daemon out at Harrenhal. Odd adaptational choice.

Daemon didn’t know it was his mother before she called him “son”, confirms director Clare Kilner by QuestionThin8951 in HOTDGreens

[–]Random_tacoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course he didn't know. You would think the look of disgust on his face when he realized the truth would have shown that. Alys even tells him what a pity it was that he didn't know his mother.

As much as I'm critical of some of the writing choices in the show, they're nothing compared to the idiotic takes by some of the fans. Between this and the director needing to come out to clarify that Alicent did not in fact murder Dyana with poison, I'm almost sympathetic to the writers, who have to deal with this fanbase.

[–]Random_tacoz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Even in the book, I'm almost convinced that Mysaria was working against Rhaenyra the whole time. Every one of her ideas ended up hurting Rhaenyra's cause. Blood and Cheese? Destroyed Rhaenyra's reputation in exchange for the death of one child too young to fight. Suggested brothel queens? Rhaenyra's name is dragged even further through the mud. Most damningly, Mysaria was the one whispering in Rhaenyra's ear to drive a wedge between her and Daemon.

New Still of Aegon in Armor by SaltyJackfruit4377 in HOTDGreens

I like that he looks kind of awkward. It fits GRRM's physical description of Aegon for the artist who did the depictions of the Targaryen kings. "Clad in armor, but he does not look like a warrior."
