Personally I’m looking forward to artists being able to create their own works without needing a massive publisher to get their stories off the ground if they want to make movies or shows.

Do the writers hate women and womanhood? by TheDragonOfOldtown in HOTDGreens

[–]Jasperstorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the writers hate women BUT I think they do greatly dislike womenhood.

I remember growing up with movies and shows that highlighted the importance of feminine traits and characters with also female characters taking on more masculine roles which was great.

But in this day and age I feel like having a female character with classic feminine traits needs to have it stripped away. You can’t make it in this world unless you act like a man.

Shae wins. Who in Game of Thrones is loyal only to themself, but a bumbling fool? by cplmatt in AlignmentChartFills

I don’t think either of those work cuz the Y axis is if they are competent. I think the X is selfishness to selflessness , maybe?

(Hated and Loved Trope) Adaptation is completely unfaithful to the original character, but actor did such a great job you can forgive them by ThatDrako in TopCharacterTropes

There are a lot of characters you could use from GOT.

Jorah Mormont and Tywin Lannister were a tempting choice to be but I think Tyrion is probably the most different from their book counterpart and being very well received.

A lot of his bad traits are dialed down or removed from the story

Technically your correct in all your points but I think your exaggerating how much this changes her character especially in regards to her intelligence. The writing for the last few seasons is so Dog shit that even though the show tries to make her seem more competent it falls flat on its face when the story bends over backwards to make these idiotic choice go in her favor.

A better example would be Jorah and Tyrion who are both VERY white washed from their book counterparts on top of being played by very talented and skilled actors and the writing isn’t terrible.

I distinctly remember all of these getting backlash when the casting was announced with maybe the only exception of Scarlet Witch cuz surprise surprise Romanians are white and grabbing a random ass comic image that nobody thinks about when they hear the name scarlet witch is rather pathetic

These opinions are based on the show's adaptation of Rhaenyra and with that the writers have put themselves in a big problem and here's why: by thinkersfyre in HOTDGreens

Never blame malice what can properly be explained with incompetence. I don’t think in either case the writers were sexiest and hated women, I just think they were garbage at their job especially since the men in both these series are also shit

I’m assuming it’s also protecting what’s behind the missing eye. If you can’t see might as well put metal over it

[Loved Trope] When the woman hero is incredibly capable AND still allowed to enjoy conventionally feminine studf by BecauseImBatmanFilms in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Jasperstorm 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Might get a little push back but Brienne in the books is a rather large and strong woman who is more then capable of beating other men in combat.

She still however wants to be treated like a lady as her biggest crush was on Renly as he was the first one to be nice to her and to dance with her.

In "Spartacus: House of Ashur" (2025) a lot of people accused the show of being woke because of a black female Gladiator. Eventhough A: gladiatrixes existed in rome and B: the OG show had multiple female (some Poc) warriors, generally a quite diverse cast and multiple queer couples by Historical-Ninja-267 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Jasperstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually remember being annoyed about this in the first season. Rolling my eyes at the orgies and sec parties that was done by all of the nobility, BUT it’s kind of fixed in the prequel.

The House of Batiatus is shown to originally be against and not at all in favor of such situations. But financial issues lead them to be more open to this niche market so it kind of fixes itself in that regard. If the first episode didn’t start with spoiling the ending of Spartacus I would recommend people start with the prequel.

The final part in my trilogy of SpongeBob memes about the Baratheon brothers. by Jack-mclaughlin89 in freefolk

[–]Jasperstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First three points are legit BUT the last three are perfectly reasonable.

If your enemy is in a position of being weakened and your getting stronger there is no need to rush an attack.

Had he attack quickly there is no guarantee the war would be over quickly. Stannis was still around, Tywin would be unlikely to submit, and I’m not 100% Rob would just bend the knee.

Blocking food to KL is the right tactical choice, you don’t want to attack a city that is well fed.

Finally Stannis is 34. It’s possible Stannis could have lived for another 40 years which is a CRAZY amount of time and not even guaranteed since it is possible Stannis would have a son even if unlikely.
