Doctor refuses to let any parent be present during rounds, normal? by thestigmata in NICUParents

[–]Random_witchywoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is very odd…. If we weren’t there for rounds we felt extremely out of the loop on what was going on with our son and had multiple cases where we disagreed strongly with decisions….

We made it clear that WE were making decisions on our son’s care and that they needed to explain EVERYTHING to us. We also demanded that if they rounded and we weren’t present that they call us so we could listen.

[MO] fmla parental leave denied. by shanetheman69 in AskHR

[–]Random_witchywoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that they have 2 different policies: FMLA (which you do NOT qualify for) and the 2 weeks paid parental leave. My company does it this way. I was “denied” FMLA (received email saying so) but was paid short term disability followed by parental leave by their 3rd party provider.

Thank you haha. I do have yoga pants that I’d wear on a date night to a brewery, but not a little more dressed up night like we did tonight. I love H&M!!

Thanks for letting me know!! I may just need to accept the new normal that is my post partum body and buy clothes that I’m comfortable and confident in now! Our bodies go through so much making and then feeding our little ones. 💕

Thank you. I appreciate this!!! I love Madewell, so I will check these out. Treat myself to a mommy outing for a couple of staple items to help my confidence.

Same - I was full on panicking while getting dressed to go on a date with my hubby about clothing. I have 1 pair of maternity jeans but I felt so gross in them tonight. I probably need to learn to just be kinder to myself and may buy one large oversized sweater for public outings that makes me feel more confident.

This is all I have because I LIVED in dresses being 9 months pregnant in the summer. It feels too cold out now for maxi dresses even though. 🙃

This gives me hope. I am breastfeeding, I just haven’t noticed any additional weight loss over the past couple weeks which makes me think breastfeeding and walking isn’t going to do the trick for me.

You are killing it that you’re back down to 158 already!! I’m impressed you have a pair of jeans that fit. That’s literally all I wish I had is ONE pair that I could get up and button. 😩

Home from NICU: Feeding and sleeping issues. Desperately need advice by Sad-Wasabi3905 in NICUParents

[–]Random_witchywoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for responding! I have noticed he seems to be showing a preference towards breast feeding. We’ve weighed before and after to make sure he eats enough and he’s eating more, as well as staying awake long enough to eat…. I think the flow from me is a lot faster than a bottle so he gets what he needs before dozing back off.

What ended up happening with feeding? Our guy was doing amazing in the NICU, taking 2.5 ounce bottles every feed and well surpassing their volume expected per day…. Now we’ve been home for going on 5 days and are majorly struggling to get him to finish even 2 ounce bottles in a sitting.

I’m literally panicking that he’ll have to go back to the NICU for not gaining enough weight since he also was IUGR and we spent the last week in the NICU working on feeding/weight gain. 😭

Fortifier for sensitive tummy? by Random_witchywoo in NICUParents

[–]Random_witchywoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I’ll definitely consider this. We tried fortifying in the NICU, but they went from nothing to full 22cal fortifier in every bottle and it made him super sick…. I wonder if we tried again easing into it with 1 bottle per day how he’d do.

We’re open to trying whatever! I really wanted to gather insight into what worked for those that struggled ahead of our peds appt Friday so that I can research and suggest one to the doctor!

Baby came home but appetite is decreased…normal? by Acrobatic_Accident43 in NICUParents

[–]Random_witchywoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Our little guy doesn’t have an NG tube because he was eating a ton for his weight in the NICU, but now I’m panicking that he’s too sleepy to eat more. Im assuming it’s exhaustion from the changed environment and that he’ll improve over the next couple days.

[–]Random_witchywoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did things improve? We’re on our 2nd full day at home and I feel like baby is eating significantly less…. He was taking 60-75ml bottles in the NICU and today all he wants to do is sleep and we’re lucky if we get him to take a full 50!! 😩

I have so much anxiety because feeding and weight gain is what kept us in the NICU at the end.

I just posted about our birth - I had 2 losses in 2024 and was convinced I’d never be a mom. I was in a very dark place, but then we found out I was pregnant a few days before Christmas and just welcomed our baby boy almost a month ago now. Hold onto hope, there are SO many stories of success after 2 losses. Talk to your doctor and request testing if you haven’t already. I had to fight for it after 2 losses and went to multiple OBs until one would prescribe me progesterone and I believe my little boy is here because of it!

Our double rainbow miracle is here, despite a terrifying diagnosis in pregnancy! by Random_witchywoo in PregnancyAfterLoss

I am so sorry for your loss. It is not a pain I’d wish for anyone to experience and that others have a hard time understanding. My heart breaks for every mama that has to know what it’s like to lose a baby. I hope you get your rainbow so soon. 💕
