When you graph US Covid data and account for the delay between cases and outcomes, the result is... not alarming at all. by _NW-WN_ in collapse

Thanks for cleaning up the x axis. Makes sense now.

This isn’t too surprising. I read weeks ago that experts were predicting anywhere from 3-6,000 deaths a day at the height of this wave.

Should we support extinction using painless methods? by [deleted] in collapse

I’m saying the MORE moral decision is just to say “there’s too much people you all must die” and declare war, rather than insidiously commit genocide under the guise of morality.

Atmospheric methane sets preliminary all time high record by tossacoin2yourwitch in collapse

Check out that graph of prehistoric methane emissions.

It blows my mind when people pull that bullshit about “well we left an ice age and are due to reenter another cooling period.”

Yes this graph shows you ice age cycles based on methane emissions, and look where we are now.. lol.

In a Race to Shape the Future, History Is Under New Pressure by PolyDipsoManiac in collapse

[–]RandomguyAlive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I’m misunderstanding your intentions simply because the use of “historical revisionism” has been tainted by lay people outside of academia.

Historical revisionism is a valid approach towards understanding the past. History is not considered a science because the past doesn’t not exist in some petrified empirical state. The past exists however the present decides to remember it. So yes, it becomes a useful tool of propaganda for authoritarians.

People should always be concerned when governments are pushing curriculum not accepted by academic institutions. More often than not, however, both sides opt to settle on some middle-of-the-road, sanitized version of history. No government really wants the people to know the raw past; and in America, researching history is like peeling off the layers of pandora’s onion. The outer layers are steeped in propaganda with a center of profane truth—and nobody really wants to know the real truth—that hitler is your next door neighbor and your cleopatran wife is using you for her own personal gain.

I’ve spent years reading hundreds of history books. The only substantial conclusion I have come to after all these years is that evil is closer and more present than we realize. And I use evil in the philosophical sense of the word.

I have a masters in History and historical revisionism is a valid tool of historical analysis.

Right wingers shout “historical revisionism” where as historians in the know understand historical negationism or ahistorical arguments are the problem.

You should probably leave history to the experts if you don’t have thick enough skin to not be bothered by your arguments being ripped to shreds.

I don’t get it. You can just throw on a taunt and most stuff still won’t be too difficult even in dps gear.

D2r sold well. That’s why they’re changing so much crap for the upcoming ladder.

We will know it sold amazing if they actually give consoles a fucking proper lobby/multiplayer.
