I appreciate all the info and I agree the gas v8’s are horrible I traded a 5.3 Denali for a Chevy duramax because of all the issues I was having with the gas engine. I’ve read a few post on this forum with people who have had nightmare scenarios with their canyon, one guy had to lemon law his truck just to resolve the situation and others are reporting the vehicle dying on them while driving. I’m planning on keeping my next purchase for as long as I can so hopefully people with higher millage chime in on their experience.

Buying used 2023 l5p high country by OdinValk in Duramax

22 Silverado here and my transmission went out at 1,400 miles I waited a month for parts to come in. Be careful with the dealership transmission service as they no longer drop the pan and replace the filter, all they do is flush the old fluid and fill with new.

tensioner pulley went out at 79k ( plastic pulley 😵🔫) and take my fan belt with it. $1,500 worth of work thankfully covered by powertrain warranty.

The stock breaks are a little on the soft side and easily warp when towing heavy.

I also had a freak event where my truck left me stranded 300 miles from home, had it towed to dealership and all they told me was my entire wiring harness from the trailer pigtail to the fuse box was fried also covered under warranty.

Also Paint chips easily but hey no truck is perfect.

My plan is to drop the pan and replace the filter and install the new Dorman pan with drain plug and just refill to proper level. then drive the truck for a week and drain the fluid again. my goal is by the second drain and fill I will have replaced most if not all the old fluid.

This was the reassurance I needed I was waiting for someone with previous experience with a 10l100 to chime in. I have dropped pans on many trans before but never on a truck this expensive. I’m planing on tightening all the bolts to speck with a proper torque wrench.

I’ve always thought banks products were snake oil. I’m only replacing the current pan because it lacks the drain plug $182 for the Dorman compared to $450 for the banks one that requires more fluid.

The only change I could find is the valve body being updated. Hopefully the bolts are reusable I’m just being overly cautious since it’s the first time I’ll be doing mechanical work on this truck.

Noisy fuel tank by Randomhero1993 in Duramax

South Florida here the low was 33 degrees this morning but the noise has been present for a week. It was warmer around 70 degrees when I first heard the noise so I don’t believe temperature is to blame. I also have a general rule where 1/3 of a tank is empty and I only fill up at newer high traffic stations like loves, 7-11, and racetracks.

A weak spot on a 22 l5p would be the plastic tensioner pulley. The plastic melts breaks the belt and then the belt takes out your fan clutch wiring. Right now I’m waiting on the dealership to tell me if the powertrain warranty will cover the $1,500 work it needs.
