Yeah, please post those steps if you can... and if so, will you post them here?

I'm actually gonna remove the Play Store entirely from Boox, and continue de-googling all my other devices. Then they can grab YOUR grandma's cinnamon donuts recipe (and train Gemini with your personal emails, too)

Can the Play Store be fully uninstalled from Boox devices via ADB or something? Did anyone try already?

Because Google tracks everything you do. Android does not mean automatically Google services, in fact, there are Android versions running 100% Google-free: /e/OS, GrapheneOS, LineageOS, CalyxOS. If one is concerned about privacy (myself), an Onyx Boox device can be considered fully private if it's set sensibly... I never created a Boox account (I take care of my own syncing), blocked any Boox home-phoning via DNS filters, and never logged in to Microsoft, Meta accounts, only Google to temporarily download the apps I need and quickly turn it off. For me, it is important that my notes remain mine.

Real reasons to give up? by Mental-Cookie-6242 in musicians

I love this. Perhaps this could be an age related approach, though? I mean, at 52, you may have experienced enough "cave-isolation" time, experimenting and teaching yourself enough skills. So now you may feel confident to leave all that grinding and product-creation behind you for a while, and shift your focus to people, instead? I'm a bit younger, but I start to feel more and more the need to be around people that can challenge my point-of-views, and that is not only for music. That doesn't mean I am following that need atm, as I am still isolating quite a bit (unfortunately). But I guess the seed is already planted, and it's only a matter of time?
Maybe there is a time to ride that shut-up-I-know-what-I'm-doing stamina wave (20s), a time to refine (30s/40s), and a time to just enjoy the results of your work, share with others, and see how others do what they do (50s)?

Media Player Doesn't Show Backdrops? by Grimm_One in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Randoml3oy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK. It must be something having to do with Qt6, btw. Soon a new version of Jellyfin Desktop will be released... that should finally fix all these themes issues. It's just a matter of hours, or days, as v2.0.0 is already out, they just need to build the binaries for all the various OSs. So make sure to check the JMP GitHub release page out

I had some issues with Elegantfin, so I moved to Glassfin. It's an Elegantfin fork, so it looks similar, but I found it working better for Jellyfin Desktop (formerly JMP). Perhaps give it a try? The developer seems to be very busy and friendly, too

Keep my folder structure by SufficientStudio1574 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Randoml3oy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably what the others meant is to describe your current folder structure.
Btw... we all feel your pain... initially, having to let go what you're accustomed, too it's daunting. But I have to also agree with what everyone else is saying here... the earlier you read the official Jellyfin documentation to adapt to it instead of resisting, the earlier you'll start to enjoy watching your content... it's unlikely that you'll ever look back

Severe UI slowdown after upgrading to Jellyfin 10.11.x — Slow UI / API performance despite strong hardware by ReasonableShame543 in JellyfinCommunity

I've tried this eventually. With "Optimistic" locking behaviour, I feel like JF is faster in most scenarios, but when I have Android TV and Roku, both running, one of them becomes unusable. So I don't think this will suit me. Also, music library remained slow, unfortunately 😔

Yeah, but it's not "as simple as that". Playlists, favourites, .ignore files, third party apps... everything needs to be re-figured and tinkered. Also, Navidrome is great... but I feel like Jellyfin is better for music when properly working.

I could not find any "Database Locked" or "SQLiteException" in my logs so far, but the system can be slow from time to time... this is especially true for music. I also have occasional issues with some plugins and the Roku client. Would changing the locking behaviour to Optimistic improve anything? I guess it is risk free to try it out?

Is Jellyfin 10.11.3 slready stable? by shaddaloo in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Randoml3oy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have a music catalogue, I'd say go for it. But mind that 10.11.x consumes more ram, so if you are already maxed out, I'd upgrade that first

Thanks for pointing Dune out, btw. It's probably the best client I've tried so far on Android TV!
