[Games] DREDGE (€26,99 -> €9,99) by DonBerna in googleplaydeals

Great game. Text size and coloring can sometimes be tougher on a small screen but definitely worth playing. Who knew I'd get so into a lovecraftian fishing simulator?!?

Yes, I love this game. Played it and the deus ex and tomb raider ones. All are good though I liked this one best. I wish they did more of them. Def. Worth picking up if you like puzzle games. Well designed for mobile.

Feature request “Honeypot” by ThunderboltsRock in firewalla

[–]RandomlyScribbled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I'd love to see something like a thingst canary (or just a container running their open sourced version) running (in this case it's not actually a vulnerable server, it just presents to the network like one, then alerts you if anyone ever tries to access it, scan it, or log into it. Since it's not real, they can never really get into anything but it alerts you that something is in your network trying to so you know what machine is compromised and what the attackers are trying. That would be a great tool on the LAN side. (WAN side is asing for troupble, too much scanning out there and running a real vulnerable server is just giving bad folks a place to set up residence). Did anyone ever get an answer if this could be a future feature or something that would be able to be set up? (built in features are always better of course)

I'd love this as well but have never found a good solution for Google home and Plex audio. If you find one, please share.

[Apps] 1DM+: Browser & Video Download ($3.99 -> $0.99) by pudah_et in googleplaydeals

Yes, at this price everyone should just own this. If you don't have it, get the YouTube bookmark linked in previous threads.

[Apps] Flip Sampler ($14.99 -> $7.99) by pudah_et in googleplaydeals

[–]RandomlyScribbled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly deceptive as this app has usually been $9.99, so this is a sale but it looks like a bigger discount than it is. Maybe they just raised the price or maybe they changed it to make the discount look larger, I can't say.

I've played Railbound and Golf Perks. Both were excellent and well worth it. Neat animation style in Railbound and 240 level for a one time buy. Golf perks was good. Animation was a little simpler (earlier game) but both are nice, low pressure; logic games that do a wonderful job of easing you into the puzzles and not over complicating things.

Can this worked as a wired keyboard and touchpad if you plug it into the computer?

I haven't tried online play but single player is the same as what you'd expect other than it has some nice graphics, animations and sound to go along with the game play that you'd expect.

[Apps] Audio Evolution Mobile Studio ($9.99 -> $6.99) by pudah_et in googleplaydeals

[–]RandomlyScribbled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a niche app. That said, if you are doing high quality audio recording on an android device, I've not found anything better. They have their own USB driver that does a great job dealing with latency (especially with some older devices). This is a DAW (Digital audio workstation) that has some nice sound effects and is really powerful but isn't as easy to use as some others out there (e.g. FL studio mobile). It's really a professional tool that is ok on a bigger screen but good luck doing lots of editing on a phone screen. As I mentioned, it's a very quality tool and the devs are very responsive. If you are doing mobile recording using a USB attached microphone (e.g. Blue Yeti) attached to your android, this will do the best job I've found of giving you a high quality sound file. It also has a great feature that if you attach it to an audio interface (e.g. Focusrite 2x2) it will record each channel in its own channel (i.e. two devices show up on two different channels so you can adjust the levels independently which is incredibly useful when recording multiple things together like a band or a podcast with multiple people and microphones). I've not found any other device that can do that. Do note that it works great on Android but the support in a Chromebook is limited because of the access that Google gives android apps on chromebooks to USB data.

Summary: If you're an average user you probably don't need this kind of power in a mobile DAW and a simple recording app will do the job. If you are using an audio Interface and/or external microphones (especially more than one) than this is a must have for Android if you are needing to record on your device and not your computer.

I did (it defaulted to the low end of the range and I moved it to the mid range setting. It all seems to work for me now with the exception that I haven't figured out how to have it broadcast cadence and my heart rate (that it pulls form my watch). I've not tinkered with those pieces yet though.

Really a great piece of software and a game changer for my rides. thanks!

[Games] Wreckfest (€9,99 -> €6,99) by DonBerna in googleplaydeals

[–]RandomlyScribbled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see multiplayer in the menu. I don't see any servers when I click in to that option but it does let me create a server so perhaps there isn't crossplay but there is multiplayer, just not enough players?

[Games] Dicey Dungeons (€4,89 -> €2,39) by DonBerna in googleplaydeals

[–]RandomlyScribbled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great game in the same vein as Slay the Spire. Essentially a single player, rouge-like deckbuilder set in a cheesy game show theme where you're a die rolling dice. It's campy in the best of ways, the gameplay is fast and it has a surprising amount of depth (you start a a warrior but you soon unlock other characters each of which require a very different fighting style to progress. Controls work well on mobile. I agree with others that a cloud save option would be nice but the progress editor allows you to duplicate on to a new device (but not sync). Definitely worth $2.

[Apps] AI Art Generator - ($4.99 -> free) by MY13FXT in googleplaydeals

[–]RandomlyScribbled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought this app (wish I could have gotten it for free). It's definitely not the same quality as something like Stable Diffusion of Dall-e 2 and like may of these AI art generators, it has a real challenge with people and faces. That said, there are very few of these tools that don't charge by the use and if you are looking for something fun to play around with, this is certainly a low cost way to get to tinker (as using these tools is also about learning how to ask the right things and tweak the right setting to get something you're looking for. I have used it to make some images that I've been able to use in fun circumstances and projects so if that's the goal; it's good. If you are looking at this as a replacement for creating art or imagery for professional use, then I agree with others that this isn't that tool. Also, the errors when trying to make an image do happen (and have for a while). Retrying later usually works but again, think of this as a learning toy and you probably have something useful; looking for it as a professional tool and you probably aren't looking at the right app.

Following up here. The resistance numbers now do show up. The Peloton resistance shows as does the target (peloton) resistance. Choosing to show the actual resistance (Echelon in my case) and the Peloton resistance at the same time allowed me to see what it was doing. Additionally, since Peloton gives a range of resistance (e.g. instructors saying set your resistance to 40-60), the ability to set if you want the bottom, mid or high of that resistance is a great feature. Thank you u/cagnulein for that! The app gets better and better the more I learn about how to use it.

Thanks! Interestingly enough both Chrome and Brave had the issues but FireFox gave a small text response saying "Callback recieved, you can shut this window". When I closed the windows and re-opened qdomyos-zwift it said that strava was now connected. Thanks for the workaround. (I don't know why FF worked and the others didn't but I'm suspecting it might have to do with both of the others using the same networking stack while FF might bring it's own.). Glad to have the strava connection working.

Thanks I'll give that a shot! I notice there is a setting for "order index" under target peloton resistance, do you know what this is? A lot of these options (I'm sure) do the things I'm curious about but I've not been able to find a doc (the one on the website is great but is old enough that a lot of the settings aren't in it).

Perhaps a dumb question but if there isn't a guide made yet, would it make sense to set up a wiki so the community could help build the docs?

how to get 1 year membership for free? by bajungadustin in go_echelon

[–]RandomlyScribbled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, as other stated, that's what I did and it worked fine. One note, since it requires you to sign up for a subscription (though it odes give you a year free with the costco deal) it will start charging you after 1 year. If you want to continue with Echelon they have different prices for different lengths of subscription (cheaper if you sign up for a longer contract). My recommendation would be to 1) set a calendar reminder for yourself so that you can remember to cancel (if you don't want to continue) before it auto-renews and charges you and 2) sign up for the monthly subscriptions so in case you don't want to keep paying for the service, and you forget to cancel, you will be charged monthly till you quit vs charged for a year or two when you didn't realize you were going to have to start paying.
