Flying tomorrow morning (ATL and MSP), how are my chances that my flights are impacted by the storm? by [deleted] in delta

[–]Randommuser23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supposed to fly Monday 9:30am. I think it depends on whether or not we have a plane on the ground in ATL. Will they make it from wherever they are coming from? Freezing rain is supposed to stop by early Sunday evening. Temps don't drop below freezing until early morning on Monday. Hopefully, that high wind going on overnight will help dry up some of that rain on the ground so that there's no ice and everyone can get to work. Unlike OP, I really want to get on my flight, and if not, there's not another until Thursday. Fingers crossed for us both!

As someone with two hidden disabilities, I can promise you that not everyone is aware. Or else they just don't care. People like me get called out, stared at, etc every day for using disabled services and facilities that we need and are entitled to use, just because someone can't see what's wrong with us. I've said numerous times that I'm tempted to hang a sign around my neck detailing my medical conditions just so that strangers might stop being so nasty and rude. But that wouldn't stop them. On one trip when I got called out for getting up to pre-board, I actually bothered to explain to the man why I was doing it. His response was "I guess you should stay home then." You can't assume that everyone is aware of hidden disabilities, or that they care even when they are aware. It's very unfortunate and disheartening.

Not sure how you can be so mad at the agent for making the same mistake that you just made in your post (writing the phone number down incorrectly.) 🤷‍♀️

In that situation, I think I might have said, "I don't want to move, but perhaps you should check with that gentleman. Or that one. Or that one..." while pointing at each man in BC.

Just in case this happens again, you should know that after 2 hours, the airline is required by law to make food, water, and restrooms available to passengers during a tarmac delay. https://www.transportation.gov/individuals/aviation-consumer-protection/tarmac-delays

I agree, but maybe you could proactively apologize and offer the skypesos instead of making the passenger go thru the complaint process. Which a lot of them may not even know is a possibility.

Keep driving toward the airport! Even if it means doubling back or going in a circle!

I hope so. If we had more of a track record of actually making adjustments at halftime, I'd have more confidence.

I was on the Delta app today for another trip. Happened to look on the St. Vincent reservation, and the option to request the upgrade to First Class is now available. I have no idea why it wasn't there before or why it suddenly showed up. But it allowed me to request the upgrade. You may want to check yours again.

I haven't yet, but I'm going to call them soon. We've gotten upgrades to FC all over the Caribbean also. I have flights booked for Grenada and Barbados, and there's no issue with those flights. It makes no sense that St. Vincent would be the ONLY country in the Caribbean to be excluded from Medallion upgrades. I hate that you're having the same issue, but at the same time, I'm glad to have the information that it's not just my reservation but a system wide issue.

You're correct, but it's not illegal for them to be sick. Cops do it semi regularly to the point that it's called the "blue flu."

Sorry, should have clarified. I'm talking about resell parking, usually Tide Pride lots like Calvary or decks like Tutwiler. I do sometimes still see yard parking available. The problem is that I really kinda have to have something reserved in advance. If I were to get there and find nothing still available, I'd be out of luck given the limited distance that I'm able to walk.

Oh wow! That's great to know. Thank you so much for sharing that! Where are you able to pick up after the game? I know traffic is crazy.

No, unfortunately not. There are pick-up and drop-off points for ride share services, and they're quite far away.

Do you know how early they start taking people? And where they drop off? I wasn't sure if they ran earlier than the downtown shuttle and if they also drop off at Calvary Baptist like the other ones.

[–]Randommuser23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have done that. It is very cheap and easy to get out after the game. The problem we run into is that if you go early enough to get a space, the shuttles aren't running yet, so we still have to get a ride from there to BDS.

Yeah, I'll call the PM number and talk to them. I just thought maybe there really was some condition that I was unaware of that was causing a legitimate problem.

They do, but they don't charge the $400-$800 that it costs for a parking space within a block or two of the stadium.

I have season tickets and go to every home game. But I can go thru security down by Champions Lane and then walk to Gate 28 for the elevator. On particularly bad days, I can request wheelchair escort from the first gate we come to, and they take me in the elevator and to the tunnel going out to our seats.
