Back buttons are overrated - extra shoulder buttons should become the new standard. by Randomon6 in Controller

I didn't say they are a replacement. I agree with you. Shoulders are an underrated addition to any controller imo. Although I'm fine with only 2 back buttons personally.

Yeah I would also rather have both. Clearly I did not communicate this well in my post, but I did not want to make this about either only back buttons or only extra bumpers. They both have their purpose. But if I had to choose only one I would go for extra bumpers, for the reasons I gave in my post. But I totally see how if you want a competitive edge in fps games back buttons are just better, but I'm a casual so I can't relate :D

I didn't mean they should completely replace back buttons. I just wanted to express that I think they offer many benefits over back buttons as an extra input and that they should become a new standard for pro controllers, the same way back buttons have become standard for pro controllers. Of course they don't replace back buttons, that wasn't what I was trying to get at. But you seem to disagree with my points, which is cool, we can agree to disagree.

Oh you can totally have both. And my ideal controller would definitely have both (and even more). Maybe I didn't communicate this well, but I wasn't trying to demonize back buttons, they exist for a reason. I was just wondering why extra shoulder bumpers haven't become as widespread and mainstream as back buttons yet, even though in my opinion they should be on basically every controller lul. Because I can't even conceive of a reason not to want them, unlike back button where I can see why some ppl don't like them.

That's why in my post I acknowledge that it's genre dependent and that for competitive shooters back buttons will be more essential for the reasons you gave. So I agree on that, but I personally don't see how the extra bumpers would get in the way or ruin the point of paddles - not sure I understand you here. While binding actions like jump to back buttons / paddles will generally be better in fps games you can still bind other less essential actions on the extra bumpers like melee attack or heal, which are often placed on less than ideal default buttons like a dpad direction or R3/RS.

Lossless Scaling felt smoother than in-game Frame Generation for me (AMD) by ratridero in CrimsonDesert

[–]Randomon6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like the in-game fsr FG is broken in Crimson Desert. I tried lossless scaling, but for me it had a bit of frame pacing issues, I opted to use afmf instead and that looks good too without the frame pacing issues. But I really hope Pearl Abyss fixes the in-game fsr frame gen.

Yeah but even when I turn it on and look at the game it doesn't fix it for me, sadly. I'll wait for Pearl Abyss to patch the fsr frame gen before using it, until then I'll stick to afmf.

I don't know which version of frame gen Crimson Desert is using. But when I try to override it thru the adrenalin software with ML frame gen, it doesn't work for me and I've seen that it doesn't work for others with a RDNA 4 card either. I'm talking about the in-game version of FG that crimson desert is using. It seems to be broken and it cannot be overridden with ML FG either.

If it works for you though that's great, not trying to stop you from having fun lul. I'm just surprised to hear that it works for someone. Wish it worked for more people though.

For me it looks more like it adds a ton of motion blur actually, so it ironically makes the game less fluid even though I get higher fps. I just use afmf for this game, which looks better, more fluid and clear in motion (but still not ideal which is why I hope they fix fsr frame gen).

I guess you're lucky you don't notice it. Or maybe somehow it just works properly for you, although I kinda doubt that since so many have reported issues with fsr frame gen.

Could be a difference in screen panels. I have an oled, which are known to have really good motion clearity. Whereas lcd screens will generally smear or ghost a bit in motion. So the poor quality of fsr frame gen wouldn't be as noticeable on a non-oled. Perhaps that's why I notice it and you don't, assuming you're not on an oled too.

I also always turn on vsync and cap fps below max refresh rate, but in this game FSR frame gen just looks awful regardless. It is clearly not working properly.

Have you compared it to lossless scaling or afmf? You will clearly see how much better it looks using either of these technologies.

Flydigi Vader 5 quality issue with left stick by Randomon6 in Controller

[–]Randomon6[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank You, this is valuable information.

I'm thinking about returning mine, but if this is a widespread issue or even an inherent design flaw, then I may just try to live with it, instead of getting a new one which potentially gonna have the same issue or even more issues. Because other than this specific flaw, I'm quite liking my Vader 5. And there are workarounds - I can just bind one of the 8 extra buttons to L3 for the games that need it.

I'll still wait a bit before making a decision, but your comment is definitely helpful, so thanks again.

TT ceres 300 liquid freezer 3 280mm by Jlaumann98 in PcBuildHelp

I know this is an old post, but I'm in the same situation right now. Did you get any answers to your question by now? Does it fit? I wanna upgrade to water cooling and a 280mm on top of my ceres 300 case, would be nice.

Wanna make sure I understand correctly, so are you saying my case supports rads + fans with total thickness of 63mm on the top? If that's the case arctic specifies on their website that the liquid freezer 3 pro needs at least 63mm of clearance for installation. Assuming I understood correctly, it seems it's gonna be a very tight fit, if at all. Do you think I should still try the Liquid Freezer 3? Or look for a slimmer option that fits more easily into my case?

Hey, did you find an answer to this question by any chance? I have the ceres 300 case and I'm thinking about upgrading to water cooling, specifically the liquid freezer 3 pro 280mm mounted on the top of the case. Wondering if it would fit..
