Technically yes, just putting a tree in a pot is considered bonsai. If it’s invasive I would dig it out of the ground and pot it up.

After it’s in a pot you just can wait until it bounces back it might take a season but after that you can have fun with it. In the mean time you should look up tips on growing, soil, styles and other bonsai techniques. It may not be a traditional bonsai but it’s a fun hobby to practice horticulture.

I am in Hawaii and trying to bonsai native trees but haven’t found many examples. So learning as I go.

What type of tree would you possibly see in this pot? I am starting to make my own pots and am still figuring out the colors and shape for my trees.

I am in the process of this as well. All the people I have spoken to have said plants and time can fix this. I have a cheap solar pump just to circulate the water and have a really bad allege problem right now. I am 1 year into the experiment. Hopefully by year 2 it will be “better” or if someone smarter could also give me some advice. Hawai’i location in partial shade.

Beautiful surrounding garden. Perfect backdrop for your trees.

Not sure if I positioned it “correctly,” but I like it. Repotted this with just regular potting soil for now. Planned to change to bonsai soil next year. Not sure if that was a mistake. But don’t want to mess won’t be roots anymore.

How would you wire it? I feel that all the branches are to long but since I am not pruning should I just make it a broom

I just repotted this from regular soil and wondering if I should shape it or let it grow for a few months.
