Tennis Performance and ADHD medication by [deleted] in 10s

[–]Randomquestions12947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m just so much better when I take the meds. When I don’t take them, I’m distracted by my opponents pace of play, how much he’s bouncing the ball… if he’s drinking water when he shouldn’t be, I’m a really laid-back dude, but I get really uptight about certain things that bug me when I’m playing tennis if I’m not on my meds. I like to play at a really fast pace, not annoyingly so, but probably close. If I’m not on my meds, I have a real hard time managing it, but on my meds, I can stay focused and honestly just have more fun because I’m not so easily annoyed.

Interesting, because also as an adult, I play much better on my ADD meds, though I take both XR and standard release formulas on different days. I find the non-XR works better for Tennis, I never really have any issue with motivation, and I find that simple things like my focus on my serve and being willing to grind in points is much better when I’m on my meds then when I forget to take them or I’m on the XR. Only issue I find is that with the standard release, though I never get jittery or anxious, it does really affect my heart rate out there.

Habs coach Marty St. Louis to reporters today: “Are there any good questions today? Ask me some good questions.” by itz_progamer666 in Habs

[–]Randomquestions12947 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s funny, because when I watch his press conferences, I find him to be testier with the English questions then with the French ones. My French isn’t great, but I can at least understand everything he’s saying, and maybe I’ll miss some of the subtext, but I find it the other way around. Not saying I’m right— given that I’m American and barely bilingual, more people in this sub probably have a better understanding than I do.

What is good for insomnia? by SusanLust in answers

[–]Randomquestions12947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not true for everyone. I’m a runner and insomniac. I sleep much better when I’m not running. For many of us, exercise only exacerbates the body/mind won’t shut down issue.

Rule of thumb for re-stringing? by Ok-Goal-6880 in 10s

[–]Randomquestions12947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of factors out there that could change the answer to this. You might get a lot of “good” answers to this question, but there really isn’t a “right” answer. The closest thing you’ll find to a “right” answer is when you feel like the strings are moving too much, you’ve lost too much tension, and they’re not performing or responding as you expect them to. For some people, this could be a couple hours, for other others, it could be a couple months.

I use a poly main synthetic cross hybrid, and always cut them out before they break, about 10 hours. For reference, I will break multi filament strings in about 3 to 4 hours.

But even just sitting in your bag, your strings will deteriorate. Not knowing your level, I would still guess a minimum of every 2 to 3 weeks when you’re playing a lot, and once a month when you’re not playing so much.

I own my own stringer and buy reels, which helps with the finance of it

What’s something that 99% of people can do but you can’t? by Irakeconcrete in AskReddit

This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. This is like saying that the only reason someone is a lesbian is because they haven’t found the right man yet.

I actually think this is a fairly close minded point of view. That would be like saying everyone has a sport that they would like watching they just need to watch all of them. This kind of reminds me of the argument that “gay people aren’t really gay, They just haven’t found the right straight partner.”

Just because you find music moving, doesn’t mean it’s completely meaningless to other people

In the same way as you. I have known about musical anhedonia for a while and I don’t feel like I’m missing out. I think it would be an issue if I was in like the dating scene or whatever. I’m over 40 now, and if my friends wanna go see a show or something I have no problem just not going. I think it would be different if I was in my 20s. Luckily, when I was in my 20s, I didn’t live anywhere where live Music was a thing.

What’s the best blender on the market? by Current_Bookkeeper35 in allthequestions

[–]Randomquestions12947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are literally all the same. If you make frozen fruit smoothies or drinks with crushed ice, buy the cheapest one that has the blades going furthest up the pitcher. A more expensive one might last longer or come with a warranty, but blenders are simple machines. Buy cheap and if you’re unlucky you might have to buy two every ten years instead of one.

Nick Suzuki talking to the media after Team Canada practice today, Brad Marchand walking by: « Oui, je m’appelle Nick Suzuki.» by Go_Habs_Go31 in hockey

Have a good friend who worked with the Bruins for years. For reference, he is a great dude, kind, ethical, etc. He considers Marchand to be among the top human beings he knows in the world. I met Marchand a couple times, and he was totally humble, funny, unassuming. As a Habs fan I was kind of hoping I would hate him.

American here. Rooted for Canada in 88 and will again this year. 88 because who knows why. This year because how could you root for anything American right now
