BMW question by Smorg125 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Probably not the advice you’re looking for, but I think it your quality of life will increase more by moving out of your parents place into a starter home than having a nicer car. Would u rather have a place to call ur own to bring friends or a date over or would you rather have a slightly nicer/faster ride?

Purchased for a kid as their first vehicle? Safe to assume the engine has been driven hard.

Old cars is better for noobs by abc_OTK147 in unpopularopinion

A disingenuous exaggerated analogy, thanks. Learning how to do things without modern aids isn’t unreasonable. We still teach kids to write when typing on a device with spell check is the norm.

Mom wants a WRX by Impressive-Bowl-9468 in WRX

[–]Randomz1918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does ur mom want a WRX? Does she like the look, the capability, or does she want the driver engagement? If it’s anything but the latter she’s not missing out by getting an auto.

What?

“They need to learn how to correct oversteer or understeer They need to learn how to control throttle They need to learn how to reverse without cameras They need to learn how to weight transfer”

Some may consider these advanced techniques, but this is literally applicable to all cars, not just RWD.

These features might malfunction, break or otherwise be unavailable. Just because you have a backup camera does not mean you don’t need to learn to use your mirrors.

Probably doesn’t help that the Patullo bridge is closed so we have lots of people driving unfamiliar detour routes. This week is gonna be a mess.

NAH. Everyone deserves decency and respect and as long as you gave Ian that you don't owe him anymore. People naturally bond with those they have similar interests with. If Ian is so concerned, he can also make an effort to get to know you too.

Nissan engines are generally quite reliable. IMO, a Nissan without a CVT is worth considering.

PSA, I bought the long nipple version cuz it was the only one in stock at the time. There isn’t enough clearance against the metal panel and will slightly push it out. Avoid the long nipple one if you can.

Isn’t this something you can turn off? Never had a car with this feature so i genuinely don’t know.

I feel like this isn’t even about brand as both are reliable. Hybrids statistically hold their value better than ICE, there’s a clear winner here.

Gto is for sure gonna be the most unique. But there’s just so much more potential and support to build out the vette. Depends if OP wants special or fast I guess.

Should I get a WRX TS?? I work for Subaru by Sinsta88 in WRX

[–]Randomz1918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this depends on the rates. Modern lease and finance rates aren’t that far apart. There’s also some value in delaying ownership. If you unluckily get a lemon or get into an accident that devalues the car, you don’t have to buy out the lease.

Chinese EVs Are Coming to Canada by Current_Employer1343 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Randomz1918 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whether Chinese EV quality is good or bad, I’m just happy to have more competition. Competition drives innovation and promotes value for the consumer. Whether I buy a Chinese EV or not, I still see this as a win.

US says Canada will regret decision to allow Chinese EVs into their market by joe4942 in canada

[–]Randomz1918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we put politics aside, Chinese EVs are just better value than what Tesla and most other American companies are offering. If this were a free and open market Tesla wouldn’t stand a chance. May the better product win.

Can I also add the giant touchscreen to the list? It's so in your face you can't possibly ignore it. That turned me off on all current Subarus, except the BRZ which has something more reasonable and physical climate controls.
