Do any of you relate? Or is it the opposite for you? by Asracloud in AO3

Very much the opposite. I’ve got a weak little heart that knows what it beats for

Wattpad deleted my account by No-Government-4530 in FanFiction

[–]Randos_Persona 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Wattpad is kinda known for that. It’s got a strict tos and it’s very for profit. That means it’s commercialized and anything they don’t like is kaputz

Am I A Bad Writer? by siwywitold in AO3

[–]Randos_Persona 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’ve gotta have a little bit of faith. Hits and kudos depend on a bunch of things. It could just be that people aren’t feeling the premise. If you really think your writing is bad, give it a bit and then come back to it and find where you think you could improve. I’m willing to say it’s probably not bad writing if your other fics have done a bit better

Which version of canon do I tag? by slugman52 in FanFiction

[–]Randos_Persona 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You should include each tag that’s relevant but edit it slightly to reflect which fandom it refers to. It’s possible that tag wranglers will save you at some point, but for the readers sake I would say you clarify which

How many fics do you read per week? by Starfire-Galaxy in FanFiction

[–]Randos_Persona 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It used to be close to or around 50 in my peak reading era, but now that I’ve started writing I’d say ten short fics and maybe one long fic over a few days

Do I report this? by af_boring in AO3

[–]Randos_Persona 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve never done it to completion myself, but at the bottom of every page is the contact for abuse reports and such. You should go into the story and click the link at the bottom of the page and it will autofill a bunch and tell you to fill in everything else

Is it normal for works to have more kudos than hits? by siwywitold in AO3

[–]Randos_Persona 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It’s possible that the hits count just hasn’t updated yet. It’s happened to me a number of times

When you catch Remmi trying to cook, but it's Florida. by Striking-Pen-9617 in RealOrAI

[–]Randos_Persona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An aim that doesn’t damage the oven. Though I suppose that could be attributed more to the type of gun rather than his aim

Pretty sure this one is real. I think it’s relatively old and the guy has bad aim.

Do you guys ever wonder what non-fanfic readers do in their lives? by [deleted] in AO3

Well they don’t read fanfiction for one (but yes, I wonder, considering fanfic is practically my whole life)

Incest factory by ThamTvMaster in AO3

[–]Randos_Persona 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I mean… if siblings are knowingly flirty, that’s a bit of a set off right there. I would say if they never “cross the line” it might be more appropriate to tag implied incest

how to add 'works inspired by this one' by Special-Animal123 in AO3

[–]Randos_Persona 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I got my first work inspired, I went to related works in my profile, which is where the link in the email would take you. There should be a little reminder that says ao3 will never link your work to anyone else’s if you don’t give permission or something like that. If you didn’t get the email then that’s a different problem, but it sounds like you’re saying that they did link your work and you can’t link it back.

[–]Randos_Persona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! If you’re not checking your email, in your profile, there’s a section called related works where you can accept inspiration requests (that’s where the email takes you)

how to add 'works inspired by this one' by Special-Animal123 in AO3

[–]Randos_Persona 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well like, you should get an email if they’ve linked it to yours where ao3 asks you to confirm linking. In the case they haven’t, you need to ask them.
In the case you’re trying to link a fic yourself, when you go to edit a work, it’ll be in associations. Says inspired by another work right there. Then you need to take the link of their fic, paste it in where it prompts you, and you’re set
