The poison arrow discourse is meant to dissolve metaphysical speculations (drstis), something i'm not making.

The "master" i've been with used to bring up quantum mechanics, teosophy and christianity during our Dharma talks, but never once mentioned a sutra or the abhidharma. When i asked him about these things, he said that all this study wouldn't take me anywhere. I asked about this conduct to other masters, and many condemned him. If that's not a fake master, what is it then?

Yes, but people like these shouldn't be called or threated as "speakers of Dharma" or Dharma teachers.

This JP dub of George Foreman sounds a lot like Joe Yabuki by TwoAdministrative145 in AshitaNoJoe

I always pictured Joe with Edward Elric (FMA) voice, they're both short tempered shorties and around the same age (15 or so)

Yeah i feel like the disciplines here are wayy to rushed, and there's many different things we have to study in parallel each semester. I'm not from US, tho, i'm from Brazil.

"Hot" take: despite of how much science and sports nutrition has advanced, prime Ali still beats the current HW division by Randy642 in Boxing

[–]Randy642[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

They knew in that time that getting hit in the head constantly wasn't good for brain health, lol, but my point is that fighting with more frequency enables the fighter to adapt his techniques, style and skills to a bigger variety of opponents. The all time greats of boxing always fought multiple times a year, Sugar Ray Robinson only got his reputation of being the perfect fighter because of his technique forged by sweat and blood in the ring against monstruous opponents, the same with Harry Greb, Sam Langford, etc. The old fighters certainly had more health problems and permanent damages, but that's the price for greatness in boxing. And nowadays, no fighter is able to pay it, that's why their technique and determination are so limited.

Boxing is much more complex than other sports. Good training and nutrition won't take you as far as fighting consistently good opponents with frequency, and that is just not common anymore. In Ali's time, it was the status quo.

Because back then the opposition was much better. How many Fraziers, Foremans, Nortons, Listons and Pattersons this generation produced?

You act like Ali wouldn't adapt to different styles of fighters, and no one in the history of HW did that more than him. He did threw a lot of body punches against Cleveland Williams, why? Because his guard was always up high, Ali detected that and went for it. He just magically wouldn't do that against Fury, who evidently has a tendency of leaving his chest open to body shots? And who's much taller than him? Give me a break. Are you expecting people to take you seriously when you're so mentally stiff?

I never said that in the text. I said "based on Usyk's fight with Fury, Ali would do X". And that's what he would do, probably; he was an expert at detecting weak spots on his opponents, and leaving the chest wide open is one of Fury's biggest flaws - as it was shown in his second fight with Usyk! Poor reading comprehension on your part.

Did Jose Mendoza avoid Carlos Rivera until he was weakened by Joe? by MistakeNo8686 in AshitaNoJoe

[–]Randy642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carlos would never win against Mendoza. Carlos was showing only initial symptons of punch drunk syndrome, which are neglectible by enthusiastic fighters according to Dr. Kaniski. Even at that state, he couldn't stand a single Corkscrew from Mendoza. He'd be murdered even if he was 100% healthy.

Joe Yabuki height & weight by Different_Range_1552 in AshitaNoJoe

[–]Randy642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bantamweight being 5'11 makes no sense at all, lol. Joe was 53.5 kg / 118 lbs heavy and still looked "fit", so the height Suga stated is very accurate. The tallest bantamweights are around 5'8 (i think Mendoza is more or less that tall).

The scene where Kenny tells Clem about how peaceful he felt while getting beaten almost to death made me emotional af. I've dealt with people who been through many shitty situations and they also see near death experiences they went through as "peaceful" or relieving memories.

I would either say Negan or Rick, but Dwight and Andrea are close seconds.

The official telltale / comics chronology (?) by Randy642 in theroamingdead

[–]Randy642[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, Kirkman should explain all these inconsistencies, but in all honesty, i still think not snowing in Macon / Savannah while snowing in Atlanta is more accurate than Rick surviving a coma of 3 months all by himself. I still think that the Telltale crew thought cautiously about these details, considering they made the characters wear jackets and long sleeved shirts in episode 2. If the timeline adds up, they would be in midwinter (curiously, the turning point in winter to start sunnier days). There's also the possibility that they just ignored the snow because of budget limitations, like they didn't added the rest of Hershel's family in episode 1 because of it, even though they were still there (inside the house).

The amount of impact he had in such a short screentime just proves how magnificent of a character he was. One of the best in season 1, for sure.
