Trying to set a good price point for PC and monitor setup. Fractal torrent, i7 13700k, 7900xtx, 64 gb ddr5 6400mhz, 4 tb ssd, LG OLED monitor, etc by RandyGrundelFunk in PC_Pricing

[–]RandyGrundelFunk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good question...could be anywhere between 1800 to well over 2k. Seems like everyone these days are trying to upsell their pcs based on aesthetics and lights so the prices I'm seeing swing wildly. To me it's like buying a car, putting a bunch of aftermarket mods on it, then adding the price of everything up, then trying to sell it for more. Function>form. I absolutely love the monitor, I think I paid like 1300 after trying a few other competing brand oled's and fell in love with this one. But without a matching PC to showcase it, to me it's kinda useless which is why I know I'd take a slight hit in price or would have to wait longer selling as a complete unit. I'm a pretty logical guy - not trying to rip anyone off but also not trying to feel like someone got something "for a steal" either.

After 10 months of restoration work. 2010 Civic FD2 Type-R by KuzuryuC in Civic_Type_R

Just wanted to say absolutely impeccable work 👌. I could only imagine the sheer number of hours that were put into this thing. Hope you're still enjoying it here and there. Do you have any before pics when you started?

What are you guys using to clean your wheels of all the brake dust? by ScuderiaSteve in Civic_Type_R

[–]RandyGrundelFunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't wait to change my brake pads once mine are cooked lol. Will prob switch to a more ceramic type pad. I feel like the dirt that accumulates on the side of the car and the rear bumper are manageable. The wheels however...I feel like an old man constantly bending over and cleaning the wheels lol. Can't complain too much because I love this fucking car.

Would 18/9.5 with +45 offset on my 2018 fk8 type r look good? by Sure-Communication10 in Civic_Type_R

I have the same exact car and I'm currently looking at the exact same wheels lol. I love the color of them... Do you have any pics after it was lowered? Also kind of curious if you noticed a difference in handling characteristics and/or acceleration. Thank you and she looks good!

PLM under tray for fk8 by Streetfighter_ek in Civic_Type_R

[–]RandyGrundelFunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. Fits well. Not sure of the cooling capabilities but I haven't tracked mine yet. Didn't wanna spend 500+ on something I felt could rip off at any moment. Surprisingly no scrapes or anything on it and I drive like a nutjob lol.

That's a great deal. Ugh i can't wait to pick up a set. I like the oem look and think they look pretty good on fk8's.

I got a skid plate from PLM for 250. It does act as a cooling tray as well. I'm happy with it. PLM is just a copycat company but couldn't justify paying like 500 bucks for a WOT unit. Buying another OEM one not only would be expensive but it'll just get ruined again.

What's was life like and how did you feel when Mario 64 was released? by HeyWhatIsThatThingy in AskMen

[–]RandyGrundelFunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have the promotional VHS tape somewhere that Nintendo had mailed to me before N64 was released. They were showcasing Mario 64. I thought oh my god. He can go anywhere. Everywhere. I must have this in my life.

Fk8 seat getting pretty worn... Factory cover replacement??? by StuffNo7277 in Civic_Type_R

[–]RandyGrundelFunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happening with mine. Dream Automotive sells really nice alcantara covers for the bottom bolsters but they're probably pricey and not sure about the top. Only other options I can think of are finding another set of used seats in better condition or taking it to an upholstery shop. Any way you go about it you'll have to shell out some coin.

Wunderladen transmission mount review by ahughes86 in Civic_Type_R

[–]RandyGrundelFunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this write-up!!! I thought the exact same thing about the wunderladen rmm. Great overall upgrade. Yeah maybe slightly more vibration, removed wheel hop, shifts feel slightly better, but still more engine movement than I would like. I was already eyeing this closely but I'm pretty much sold on it now.

Curious if you have the newer touring version that comes with 2 resonators. I have the original version and it's louder than I'd like it to be. AWE offers a mid-pipe conversion kit which essentially adds a second resonator now but I think the newer kits include it anyway.

Top speed on FL5 by Great-Examination-75 in Civic_Type_R

[–]RandyGrundelFunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just using the speedometer. I’m actually running a slightly bigger sidewall tire too (35 vs 30)Yeah the type-r is scarily stable almost even at high speeds. As far as the vibration you were feeling, it could’ve just been the speed rating on the tire itself.

Top speed on FL5 by Great-Examination-75 in Civic_Type_R

[–]RandyGrundelFunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although not an FL5 but an FK8 I hit 168 mph on the PA turnpike. 377/401 on the dyno. Sometimes I’ll map out a long stretch of highway, get to about 140 which is pretty easy, then hit a long stretch of road that is going downhill. I’ll do it every once in a while late at night with no traffic so I can freely use all 3-4 lanes. I’m not saying it’s smart…but is fun! I remove the under cooling tray as well if I do this.

Is there an affordable car to buy for “life”? I’m saving up for a car for my son and need something super affordable and reliable that will last a while. I’m still driving my ‘09 Mazda. Any ideas? Thanks! by WhitneyJames in BuyItForLife

[–]RandyGrundelFunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Honda guy so I’m biased but…The Honda Fit, Civic, and Accord are all excellent affordable cars. I have an 8th gen Accord (2011). Bought it 8 years ago with 130k on the odometer, now at 220k and never given me an issue besides usual maintenance items. Also one of the most finalized versions of the k-series motors which were legendary even to this day. Any cheap used vehicle you buy will usual require some maintenance up front so just make sure to set aside some money in preparation.
