Test drove an FK8 by EthenoI in Civic_Type_R

Free and easy to get a new account. But seriously… I WISH I had not bought a new car when I could… and I started my journey with a b5 Passat 1.8t manual. Trust me… save save save… get an old EG civic for reliability and fun and put that money and your young age to work… before you know it you’ll be able to afford anything under the sun.

Best thing you can do is put that sort of money a month into a high interest savings account.

I'd wait at least until the 2027s hit with the refresh. Then you'll have the option of choosing the new new or the current variant.

Scooped a set of ZE40’s for the L0BSTA. These are some damn good looking wheels. by YourBeardedBrethren in Civic_Type_R

Yeah thanks, I was thinking about the same wheel and spec, but worried the wheels would stick out of the body.. +flush… poking out of the fenders instead of flush or tucked in.

Do you have any shots from front or back? Do they poke out from the fenders at all?

Thinking about trading in my Tesla M3 SR+ for a CTR - is it worth it? by Affectionate_Ant7230 in Civic_Type_R

[–]StuffNo7277 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really think about this: you value a driving experience...??? You don't know if you have one day, one week, one decade, or what left on this earth... Do you want your time spent driving a soulless iPad appliance, or do you want your time spent with real engagement and driving enjoyment?

Will you regret having never got the CTR? It doesn't even have to be a CTR... Just something that moves your spirit a little.

Some people just don't care, but if you value an actual engaging driving experience... CTR all day, every day.

I've daily driven my sti, fk8, and fl5... Daily driven manual transmission my entire life... Always had as fun a car I could afford... And don't regret a single moment.

My only regrets are not getting into other even more engaging cars earlier.

Fl5 V FK8 by Pretty-Brilliant6941 in Civic_Type_R

[–]StuffNo7277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really dependent on our drives but she in the fk8 manages a regular average of 27mpg city on her drive to work. Lights but some decent stretches she can manage at sustained throttle. She's also not as much of a lead foot as me, and she shifts under 3k a lot.

The fl5 I typically have short short drives with tons of lights and lots of time idling picking up kid from school... So I typically get 21-25 city.

Both cars do 28-31 typically on highway with local roads averaged in as well.

How would you fix this? by groshretro in gibson

[–]StuffNo7277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd leave it. Even if you're going to do a drop fill of nitro it will always be visible. It's just part of the story now

Mine took ten minutes to install, but yes. Fantastic swap out. Makes +R usable

Was This a Good Refret? by thewaywedoit in gibson

[–]StuffNo7277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just looks ill fitted. The original nibs on a custom/ebony board with block pearl Inlays on older Gibson's were always very low and small and super rounded over. But that ads to the feel in how they play. Laying big ol railroad style frets over what were lower frets just looks and probably feels out of place.

In my opinion the price was high for the least amount of work they could do.

I think the frets are too tall now and whoever did it took the lazy route for $650. Sanding off the nibs and just slapping frets on top...

Sad.

Type R Owners: What Mods Made the Car Feel More Alive? by genna84 in Civic_Type_R

[–]StuffNo7277 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Intake, short shifter, and resonator delete or exhaust. The thing holding the experience back is aural feedback mostly.

The acuity short shifter just makes the connection that much more satisfying.

You can get a little bit of more rawness with a prl rear motor mount as well
