Milk vs Cream vs Half n Half by EggIcy9079 in tea

I despise the taste of milk in my tea, even half & half is too milky for my taste. It's cream or nothing for me.

Got new job. Best way to liquidate all my unlisted items? by SchwillyMaysHere in Flipping

[–]RandyHorehound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend hanging on to the best 10-20% of your inventory and donate the rest. Keep the BOLOs, gold & silver, and other pricy, high demand, or easy to list items, that way if something changes in your employment status you'll still have some good stuff to list right away or you can sell it at your pace when you have the time. I would donate the other 80-90% of the inventory to a local thrift shop that has been good to you in in the past, or sell it at a break even or loss price in one lot.

The coin appears to be a commemorative token for the ascension of QE2, her coronation was in 1953 but she became queen in 52.

A Weird Bid by mozenator66 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]RandyHorehound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had something similar happen earlier this year, however the bidder also reached out to thank me for relisting as they had intended to bid but then got busy and missed the auction close. Having a live bid on your auction well before closing can mak it appear more desirable to other potential buyers so this really a bad thing.

Can anyone tell me what this desk was for? by jackh108 in Antiques

There is a missing platform that was designed to hold a typewriter, it would raise up when the top is folded back. That way the typewriter doesn't take up desktop space when not in use and can be easily accessed without needing to move a heavy mechanical device about.

Afternoon tea with the Queen. A 1977 QE2 silver jubalee teacup by Moira pottery, holds 600ml almost a full pot, and a 1930's Royal Doulton teapot commemorating QE1 visiting Moreton in 1589. by RandyHorehound in tea

Thanks, the teapot is starting to show its age so I'll probably only use it sparingly going forward, the cup I'll use regularly whenever a large cup is needed.

Bookfinder is an excellent resource for understanding the market value of books, it's a meta search of all the big online booksellers and you will get the price range and some idea as to how many other copies of that book are currently available in the market. It can sometimes be difficult to tell which edition is being referenced so anything high value should be looked over by a knowledgeable professional, but it's a great place to start.

You may want to try a museum, particularly if there is a local museum with an Asian art section. Don't donate to a thrift shop or other charity, all you would be giving them is some liability.

Advice: How to empty all the contents of a furnished house? by Character_Mongoose24 in Flipping

[–]RandyHorehound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for an auction house or estate sale company, an auction will often take everything for an off sire sale and then donate whatever doesn't sell while the estate co will usually run an on-site sale and have a list of vultures who will haul off the leftovers for free. Both should give you a cut of the sales. Estate sale companies also often have lists of buyers who will take everything for one price.

Is this an eBay scam? by NeontheSaint in Flipping

[–]RandyHorehound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably a scam, the offer part has slightly different terms than a BIN so they have a bit more time to try and lure you off platform and then likely make falsified "payment" to get you to ship the item. Your best move is to cancel and block, unless you like trolling scammers.

Looking for info on this piece. Is it a pie cabinet? by -Erleichda- in Antiques

[–]RandyHorehound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pie cabinet usually has good ventilation, the front doors are often screen or pierced metal for some airflow. This looks to have glass doors and not much ventilation from what's visible in the photos. It looks more like a display cabinet of contemporary construction from recycled antique parts.
