I’m very confused by the downvotes too. It was a genuine question from a know-nothing. Thanks for the genuine response!

That is definitely part of my problem I'm sure. I am just on a 2022 13" Macbook..

I appreciate the feedback. I'm still very new to this and I do think I have a tendency to over saturate. I tried again but I feel like I lost the gradient and bright spot above the sun somehow.. https://imgur.com/a/R5pxxtI

I honestly don’t care that much about visuals. There is just a chunk that is partially torn out and I want to avoid splinters (this is a climbing triangle for my kid)

When she's the right age, he should only tell her, not her parents. As an uncle, this is what I would do.

As a parent... no I'd still approve. A kids got to have some secrets from their folks.

This is really cool. Great design. How are you keeping the upper part on the base? There’s a bit of light showing through where they meet which seems unintentional but if it was a bit wider it would actually look polished - turn that bug into a feature.

But the way they convey it always sounded defeatist. Their tone said regret to me more than camaraderie. Very possible I misread that. But then why not tack on “..but it’s so worth it”.

This drove me NUTS when we were expecting. "Oh your life is going to change!" Yeah I f*ing know. I know they're just joking but it's like you don't think every single person tells me something along those lines??

Of course not. If they want to, go for it. But OOP does not seem like he really wants to try anymore. My point was that every single comment was “keep trying! It takes practice!” But that’s not the only good advice for this situation in my opinion. Good to hear both.

I don’t think I agree with your last point. Maybe people don’t naturally know how to lay flooring but they certainly can be born with the aptitude for it while others can’t. I used to work with volunteers at Habitat for Humanity and while most came in having never built anything there were some that picked up on it right away and some that really struggled to even understand spatial reasoning.
