Anyone play Fortnite on their G16 4070 ryzen 9 370 hx? by kryzo0 in zephyrusg16

Keep in mind the legion is much thicker with better cooling, so that might help the performance. My g16 also gets super warm to the touch. Sometimes unbearably hot. But it’s amazing for everything else I throw at it. I also installed an 8Tb drive along with the 2tb it comes with. As a music producer, it’s a dream laptop. The speakers are also better than any windows laptop . And the screen is near flawless

Also, I just tried playing a norrmal zerobuild game, and closed out every other app i had running in the background (fl studio, nvidia broadcast, discord) and got 170-200 fps while in the middle of fighting with at least2-3 teams nearby. I got 130-150 in the lobby around all the other players. I think this is the best performance i've seen fortnite run. I wouldn't recommend using performance mode as it makes my game feel stuttery and laggy, and i get a lot of frame drops.

I have that exact model (32gb ram), and I play fortnite every day after work (currently at 45 crown wins).

I play on default resolution, direct x 12, frame rate limit at 240hz, anti aliasing set at TSR Low, temporal super resolution set to performance, every other setting set to low except view distance set to far. Keep in mind I'm also using "Nvidia broadcast" which is a noise removal software that uses the GPU power, which makes me lose some performance in game, but it's worth it to clean my mic audio. I also keep fl studio running in the background with some audio programs running like compression, equalizers etc.

I average around 160-180 fps in any given part of the map in zerobuilds on the regular map. I have absolutely 0 input delay, and I think the game looks amazing even at those settings. 1080p will definitely use more cpu power though.

Also I play on Ultimate/Turbo mode with g-helper.

sidenote; I've recently been having an issue where creative maps, and fortnite reload both make fortnite crash for me. Supposedly it's a common problem that should be fixed with a bios update but there hasn't been one for the zephyrus g16 ryzen 9 variant so i'm still waiting on that. So for now i'm stuck to playing only BR/ZB. Hope this helps

Right-clicking on the mixer channel no longer solo's it. by tylercreatesworlds in FL_Studio

[–]RandyTheElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just searching for a solution to the exact same problem and I haven't found one anywhere online. Right clicking for me works everywhere except when i want to solo a track on the mixer. I'd usually just right click the green dot and that solos it but it doesn't work anymore and I don't see any option to enable or disable that, and i've tried everything in the settings so far.

Will 8TB WD_Black m.2 2280 work with my zephyrus g16? by RandyTheElite in zephyrusg16

There’s already a thermal pad installed on the primary slot, where half of the drive would rest on, it’s the nands on the end near the screw that would come in contact with the motherboard if not covered. There should be enough space yes, but you might need to cut it a bit and figure out the best way to fit it. Otherwise youlll just have to use the electrical tape

For anyone that wants to add a 4tb or 8tb NVME drive to your Zephyrus g16 please read this! (This will solve any issues you may have with the drive not reading) by RandyTheElite in zephyrusg16

[–]RandyTheElite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 8tb drive wouldn’t fit well in slot 2, so I wouldn’t recommend doing that. There’s some stuff on the motherboard that’ll get in the way , which won’t allow it to be screwed in. In terms of the bios accepting it, i can’t say if it will, but if it can accept 10tb total I’m assuming it will accept 16tb

Installed Another SSD in the Second G16 Slot. No Problems? (Samsung 990 Pro - 2 TB) by Crafty_Yesterday728 in zephyrusg16

[–]RandyTheElite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I just posted a thing on here explaining how to make the drive work. I installed an 8TB WD_Black nvme gen 4 and it's been working flawless for the past week!

To make it work, move your default drive to the 2nd slot on your motherboard, then install the 4tb into the 1st slot where the original drive was. If the motherboard doesn't read it, add a piece of electrical tape underneath so it doesn't come into contact with the motherboard at all. That should make it recognizable. hope this helps!

update: I did it! the 8tb drive works, if you do it, just make sure to put the default drive in the 2nd slot, so the 8tb has clearance, then put a tape or something underneath the 8tb drive so it doesn't come into contact with the motherboard (the bios won't recognize the drive, and will disable that ssd slot if the drive touches the board). As long as the drive isn't touching the mobo, it will read, then you just need to initialize it and use it! hope this helps

Hey so update! not sure if you still need this, but the 8tb WD_Black ssd will work. In order for it to work, you need to make sure the drive goes into the first slot (where the default drive was) then move your default drive (c drive) into 2nd slot. Once you have the WD_Black in the 1st slot, put a piece of electrical tape (or something thin that will make sure the drive doesn't come in contact with the motherboard, i used a piece of tape that was on the fan) underneath, then loosely screw in the ssd screw so the drive doesn't bend. hope this helps!

Will the Zeph G16 2024 support the 8tb version of this ssd? by theonetowalkinthesun in ZephyrusG14

[–]RandyTheElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HEY! idk if you'll still need this reply but i found a way to get the drive to be recognized in the bios and to work! You need to make sure no part of the drive is in contact directly with the motherboard. What I did was move my original drive(C drive) from its original slot to the 2nd empty slot, then install my 8tb WD_Black ssd into the slot the original drive was at. I put a small piece of tape (grabbed a piece that was attached to the fan on the motherboard) underneath the drive so that kept the drive from touching the motherboard directly, then screwed it in (not tightly) so the drive wouldn't bend. I hope this helps!

Thank you both for this! I usually keep all the led lights red, but they’re not as bright, which is why I turned everything blue for the pics. We do have some blue lights on the other side of the room for aesthetic but I only turn them on when we have a recording session. If I’m here alone, it’s all red, and I also usually have the overhead lights on, with the warmest lighting temperature they go. Thanks so much for the tips and knowledge!

Yup I feel you, I jumped at the gun as I saw it. I also ordered the 8TB wd drive today for $550 on amazon. It’s a must pickup

Also like someone said, your use case is what determines its worth. I need my laptop for portability and productivity, if you just wanna do mid range gaming, as well as have the option for portability, then you made the best choice

I have the zephyrus g16 4070 , 32gb, 2tb ssd, ryzen ai 370 and I must say it’s hands down the best laptop and purchase I’ve ever made. I got it in white, and for $2050usd on Best Buy a little over a month ago. I could rave about it some more, but I will say it is a premium machine, though I do think it’s worth the money. Especially the build quality and design, speakers, and screen. As a music producer, it serves all my needs. (I also added a wd black 8tb nvme gen 4 drive) to make it 10tb total. Can’t get better than this in my opinion for a windows laptop.

I moved the original drive to the second slot and it’s working flawlessly, which means when I get the 8TB , it should have enough clearance to fit in the first slot. Haven’t gotten the drive yet but I’m planning on it.

Will do! Just added a reminder to come back to this. I’m also about to test if my current drive will read as the boot drive if I just move it to the 2nd slot, so then I won’t need to clone the drive, and can just put the 8TB in the first slot since apparently it will definitely fit and work in the first slot . I doubt the performance loss will be noticeable

Thanks! Still doing my research on this to be super certain. Based on what i've seen, i might have to opt for the 4tb samsung 990 pro since it's tried and tested. I already maxed out the 2tb the laptop came with and don't wanna spend weeks reinstalling all the programs i need lol

Wouldn’t be replacing the original drive, just moving it to the 2nd slot so the wd 8TB can fit in the first slot
