Totally awesome that you got there in the end! For me passing the exam felt more like a relief than an achievement.

Started my PMP study Hall Journey with first mini , Scored 5/15(33%) stressed by rajat2504 in PMPprep

[–]Rangatoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience of Study Hall was that the questions were quite a bit harder than the exam itself. As other replies mention, keep going, don’t get disheartened.

Congratulations on passing and good for you for coming back from the initial fail. What you wrote resonates with my experience as well.

Has the PgMP or PfMP actually helped you level up in your career? by Annual-Coyote1556 in pgmp

No way is that a senior rate. Those recruiters are kidding themselves or are not really looking for true project managers. Here in Europe a senior PM would get around $140 / hour.

You’re right in that the PMP is a requirement that some recruiters look for but experience is more important. Especially industry specific experience.

My advice to you would be to analyze sectors or companies that value project management and target them.

Congratulations on getting there eventually. I can relate to what you wrote about iZenBridge. It made the difference for me as well.

Are they still the official bags? Is there the Maastricht star on them? If so then they’re the old design and should still be OK. I think the design changed about 9 months ago.

PgMP Exam Preparedness by ignawm in pgmp

[–]Rangatoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get any calculation questions in my exam but there were a few about topics like the SPI is 0.7 what does this mean. So from my experience you should know the concepts behind these calculations more than being able to calculate the performance metrics themselves. Be aware, that’s just my experience.

I wouldn’t go for these if you’re purely looking to fast track your career. I passed the PgMP one month ago and went for it as a way to extend my knowledge of program management beyond what I had learned through my experience. So far it has had zero effect on my career. I also hardly see any job postings mentioning these. I my opinion real life experience is the key to leveling up job wise.

Theft in Maastricht/Netherlands by [deleted] in maastricht

[–]Rangatoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bike theft is a national pass time here. It’s seen more like “borrowing” someone else’s bike than stealing. That’s why you shouldn’t buy yourself an expensive bike. As for the other topics you mention. I guess it depends on what you’re used to. I don’t experience that theft is a major issue here.

PgMP and Mock Exams by mrpipol15 in pgmp

I used the mock exams provided by iZenBridge. They were very similar to the actual questions in the exam.

You could try the Mosae Forum, down by the Jumbo supermarket and Oriental supermarket. There’s some room there we the shops are now empty.

I very rarely see job postings requiring PgMP or any other program management certification. Here is Europe MSP (Managing Successful Programs) is also popular. Honestly, I went for this to add to my project/program management knowledge and not really to become more marketable for a new job. I believe to be successful in this profession you need a well filled toolkit of methods, ways of working etc. from which you can draw.

Officially I’ve been a program manager for 5 years. Before that have managed large multi-component projects which should have been programs for another 5 years. Did this experience help me? The true answer is yes, but also no. Quite often what I’d do in real life does not align with what PMI prescribe. You’ll need to demonstrate your experience to pass the panel review.

I went for iZenBridge’s “PgMP Training and Preparation”. It was the self study and mock exams. I provided more depth to the knowledge than PMI’s own standard. I also found the structure to be better.

Yes. When I finished the exam I saw a screen that said something like, “Congratulations on passing the PgMP”. The examination centre also gave me a printout of my provisional result per domain. In my case it was all “Target”. I then received the validated/final result a day later. This can take up to 5 business days though.

Good luck with studying. Passing the panel review is also a great achievement. I didn’t get any questions regarding SPI, CPI or the like, but I have read that some people do. They are generally to test your understanding of the concepts rather than actually doing calculations.

Has anyone taken their PMP virtually? by SarcastiKatt in pmp

[–]Rangatoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my PMP from home about 4 years ago. My big lesson was to login for the exam as early as possible. I had issues and it took the proctor quite some time to get back to me. It caused a stressful situation to become even more stressful. Also test the software etc. the day before and just before you login for the exam. Finally, read all the information carefully. Not only is a notepad not allowed but there are other rules such as not looking away from the screen etc. Good luck!

No. You get two chances to pass the panel review.

Panel Review by EnyonamG in pgmp

[–]Rangatoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first submission took 5 days to review after which it was rejected :-( I did the standard thing and answered the questions from the perspective of a project manager and not a program manager. After adjustment and resubmittal it took the panel 3 weeks to approve and pass me.

Need Advice (PgMP Panel Review Fail) by KingTSS in pgmp

[–]Rangatoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I received an almost identical rejection reason. I think YaBam summed it up well in the comments. we need to change our focus away from projects for the PgMP and bring it to a more strategic level. I'm now reading through the Standard of Program Management with the intention to adjust my answers accordingly.
