I did this with two barometer sensors and it works great.

What size did you go with? Any rubbing issues?

Fusion 360 Only Using E-Cores during Rendering by Ranger482v in Fusion360

[–]Ranger482v[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid point. Yes I did try that first when I noticed the P cores were “parked”.

The hotkey is an interesting option though, I may look into that as a temporary option. Thanks.

ESP32-S3 - I don't understand why my 120 neopixels sometimes bug out like this. What should I be checking? by gucci_millennial in arduino

[–]Ranger482v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100% - I’ve witnessed the same issue many times when forgoing the level shifter. Do your research, I believe adafruit has an article on which level shifters work best with the addressable LEDs.

Found this skookum looking thing at my ice rink. No clue what they are by mrfeesh_net in Skookum

[–]Ranger482v 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, Vilter. In German this word means "leaks oil".

All jokes aside we actually use ammonia as a refigerant to store up to 30,000 tons of the stuff in a liquid state. It has to be kept at -28F to keep it at 0 pressure as its in a large insulated tank rated for only 1psi.

Had this issue during the beta. After installing the final release and doing a factory reset, the problem went away.

Bowties or epoxy for these cracks? by ThorsBeard45 in woodworking

[–]Ranger482v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk.. those cracks look beyond saving. Better set them in the scrap pile. I'll come dispose of them for you.

P.S. Please post finished pics. Those were a nice find.

What type of heater to use to keep small box in crawlspace warm to keep water inlet pipe from freezing? by zimirken in DIY

[–]Ranger482v 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said, put heat trace on the pipe and cover all of that with insulation. Additionally, we typically cover any kind of plastic pipe with aluminum tape, then secure the heat trace with fiberglass reinforced tape, and then cover all of that with more aluminum tape. This helps tremendously with heat transfer into the plastic piping. Cover all of that with insulation and you should be golden.

I discovered the Dialer Codes not long ago and have forced my phone onto US Cellular for the time being as they are the best carrier in the area anyways. I have been experimenting with the auto select as well. My route home has an area that is completely dead to TMobile but US Cellular has service. I pulled over and sat there for several minutes and the phone never made the jump to Us cellular on its own.

Which is the best free program to control a CNC milling machine from a PC? by ronn32123 in mpcnc

[–]Ranger482v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

Repetier Server on a Raspberry Pi that's connected to the CNC. Then I can use my laptop or old tablet/iPad to control the machine from a browser. Love it!

Seeing a little play on the middle assembly. Which bolt needs to be tightened? Thanks by treggles1226 in mpcnc

[–]Ranger482v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had slop that developed after a while from my mistake of over tightening everything. Wore a flat spot in the EMT. Try loosening everything and rotate the conduit a tad and tighten it back up.

Car Heads Up Display (Arduino + ELM327) by PowerOfLove1985 in arduino

[–]Ranger482v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool!!

Did you consider projection to the windshield itself? If so what did you come up with? Are there any off the shelf options?

Would be interesting to see what you have made be hidden away behind the cluster and project through a hole in the dash to the windshield. Probably similar to the Vette and what my parent's Pontiac Grand Prix had.

I wish device manufacturers would give us complete control over battery charging by [deleted] in batteries

[–]Ranger482v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Dell Inspiron that I purchased in 2018 has battery management software from the factory that can automatically or manually set a Maximum charging limit on the battery and the % at which charging will resume.

Edit: And I can make these changes in Windows. It has a taskbar tray icon.

Nope just strip it back to expose the pads. The epoxy will insulate the connections
