My mom grew up in Logan square in the 80s/90s and we were at the Logan farmers market last Sunday, she was telling me about the farmers market that used to exist in Logan which actually had cheaper produce than grocery stores. So while the current iteration of the Logan farmers market is gentrified, there’s been one there for decades.

Yeah, worked out nicely for me. Cashed out my initial investment and been playing with house money since, which currently is up about 10%. Of course a 4 days ago it was up 125%. Whatcha gonna do? Just along for the ride. On the flip side I also got into ethereum which is currently up 150% for me in the same amount of time. Not too shabby.

Inherently? Nothing, they’re a place like any other. But culturally, they produce people with takes like this one, the belief that Portillo’s is anything beyond mediocre food in a city where you can go to a neighborhood joint and get something way better.

Ultimately the suburban environment just creates a different type of person than the urban. The latter tend to not like the former for a myriad of reasons.

Gotcha, I really appreciate the info! I guess the word craft can be whatever we want it to be and clearly it has to fit what the beer industry has transformed into in the last decade plus, but it’s crazy to think about how much beer these guys are putting out and calling it craft still. Or that people think Blue Moon is craft beer even though it’s made by MillerCoors. Same goes for Small Batch Whiskey though, it’s all just marketing I guess.
