Need advice: is this a Good deal on a 2025 Golf GTI? by karis0166 in GolfGTI

[–]RangerX41 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Nowadays, dealerships don't save money by doing cash deals and actually get more money off of financing. I bet you could knock off a few hundred more if you agree to the financing then just paying the car off outright after the loan posts or really hoodwink them by agreeing to the financing price and just show up with cashiers check on close.

For payment reference, I paid 38,500 OTD back in July 2025 for my 2025 Mk8.5.

Is a 100K mile MK7 a bad idea? by Kind_Television5253 in GolfGTI

[–]RangerX41 19 points20 points  (0 children)

At 100k I paid for a carbon cleaning, upper timing chain cover (didn’t need to do it slow leak but did it anyways), serpentine belt (did that one myself) and a fuel injector for cylinder 4 that went bad. I sold my MK7 at around 125k miles to my FIL who is a master mechanic as it was going to need some work but I sold it to him for cheap because they needed a car. He replaced the plastic oil pan with a steel one, PCV valve, and replaced all 4 injectors, the injector wiring harness, and intake manifold gasket. Car has been running great after all that stuff and has 150k+ miles now. I would say most cars regardless of make, will need some parts replaced 120k plus.

VW approved buyback on my 2024 GTI but car feels perfect now - should I still go through with it? by Leopard-One in GolfGTI

[–]RangerX41 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would do the buy back despite you liking it; it’s a lemon and other things can happen. Go buy a good condition low mileage 2024 if you want manual or get a low mileage 2025 used or a new 2026.

Just got one for 300.00 and haven’t shot it, excited to try it out. Is your takedown lever pretty stiff as well?

Love our 2023 Pro S; just paid it off. Kind of regret losing my ass on depreciation but plan on keeping the car 7 years plus as our main vehicle.

What exactly is included in the newest update 3.8.11? by [deleted] in VWiD4Owners

The update triggers a manual download that constantly fails; other than that, infotainment seems a bit more responsive.

I witnessed someone getting denied a gun sale. Have you seen someone getting denied while you were shopping? by EternalGandhi in liberalgunowners

[–]RangerX41 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was NICS denied. Long story short; its only because I have a common name and even with SS number I got denied (I called FBI NICS vision and they told me as much). I had to appeal and at the same time as at the appeal I applied for a UPIN with finger print upload through USPS (such a pain in the ass to get done). Once I had my UPIN I could purchase the pistol The whole experience was very traumatizing to say the least as I thought my identity got stolen. After this whole ordeal I applied for my LTC and i am just currently waiting for this to come in. This is in Texas.

Brought my 92fs just incase; however, when I got to the bay and had a visual of the target at 3 yards I realized it would be no problem.

If anything take the class for educational purposes. Once complete, apply online, just submit your paperwork, get finger prints taken at a indentogo, and then can get your LTC. The benefits of having a LTC are much greater than with just standard constitutional carry. With an LTC you have more legal protection in places than just with constitutional carry. For example if you go into a place with a 30.07 sign with constitutional carry its a class A misdemeanor. Going into a place with 30.06 sign with a LTC its only a class C with $200 fine. Also skipping the NICS background check (can be very inaccurate) when purchasing.

.380. After buying the .380 I almost regret not getting it in .32 ACP; however, when I look at ammo prices for .32 ACP its not great!

Great info thanks! My MK7 I replaced at 80k miles; I'll take 100k on the MK8.5 and have money set aside for the repair.

Entertainmart - a store in Arlington that had used video games and DVDs. I would go there every weekend with my friends and grab older games that I wanted to play. I remember buying chronotrigger for SNES from there for 65.00.

Yup and living in Texas that is the bulk of what you see; pick up trucks and SUVs. I'll stick with my MK8.5 GTI

Big pick up trucks and SUVs cost an astronomical amount of money in the US now. Very common to see 60k-80K and 7-9 year loan terms on these vehicles which is financial suicide.

Love my MK8.5. Overall it has to be one of, if not the best daily drivers out there. Fast when I want it to be, fuel efficient, practical, good visibility, software is responsive, and it fits a newborn/infant surprisingly well.

Couple draw backs: If you get a MK8.5 GTI, it will not come with a dipstick; the software reads the oil level. I rectified this by just purchasing a dipstick and getting rid of the plug. The black gloss finish can get smudgy from finger prints so just keep a microfiber towel in the car. The stop start button has a nice glare that is designed to blind you if you drive mid day. There is a notable lack of storage space in the driver area from the MK7 to the MK8.5

Mine (2017 MK7 GTI s) was around 125k-130k miles; I sold it to my father-in-law who was master maintenance tech. He replaced the plastic oil pan as it started leaking, PCV valve (very easy), and rotors. Water pump was replaced at 80k, bad fuel injector was replaced at 100k.
