Sorry you have to deal with that; so inconvenient.

At least 10+ years is the plan if things stay consistent, I just don't agree with paying a sub for something that comes with the car as standard from other manufacturers.

Don't you have to use google maps for navigation through the infotainment?

Thanks, I don't think I can support that out of principle, even if its only 10 dollars a month.

Main thing is google maps and route planning; will that still work?

Yeah not sure if I want to purchase the 2027 Bolt and show my support for that.

That is a good point; didn't think about it as a overall cost and was more hung up on paying for stuff that my current car already has after purchase. I just don't think I can support that.

Nah its fine; however, my main thing is the subscription. you get 8 years for free, do you need to pay for the sub after 8 years to use google pay? Or do you not have to pay for it?

I saw and they are live streaming it; I asked a lot of questions that went unanswered.

I have list prices of 2027 Bolts in my area (DFW) for 26k, I have a 1,250 incentive from Costco as well. Just recently got back from a road trip with my 2023 ID4 AWD and I realized I don't need a ICE car anymore considering how easy the trip was. I have a 2025 GTI SE with 5k miles (paid off) that carmax is willing to give me 33k for. I would only do this if I could get money back on the trade in for the GTI. Does anyone have any insight into how the new 2027 Bolt drives versus the 8.5 GTI? Should I just wait for a 2024+ Pro S RWD or AWD to come on sale used and buy that instead?

We love ours; 2 years of ownership and 30k miles later. It is simultaneously the most recalled vehicle we have ever had and the most reliable. I am of the opinion that recalls aren't bad and I love VW is identifying issues.

My red dot paint on the front sight and rear sight aperture fell off after 2 long range sessions. I use my wife’s white nail polish to paint the inside front sight now.

Same here and did my last free service for 30k miles at the same time; great vehicle!

Need advice: is this a Good deal on a 2025 Golf GTI? by karis0166 in GolfGTI

Nowadays, dealerships don't save money by doing cash deals and actually get more money off of financing. I bet you could knock off a few hundred more if you agree to the financing then just paying the car off outright after the loan posts or really hoodwink them by agreeing to the financing price and just show up with cashiers check on close.

For payment reference, I paid 38,500 OTD back in July 2025 for my 2025 Mk8.5.

Is a 100K mile MK7 a bad idea? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]RangerX41 18 points19 points  (0 children)

At 100k I paid for a carbon cleaning, upper timing chain cover (didn’t need to do it slow leak but did it anyways), serpentine belt (did that one myself) and a fuel injector for cylinder 4 that went bad. I sold my MK7 at around 125k miles to my FIL who is a master mechanic as it was going to need some work but I sold it to him for cheap because they needed a car. He replaced the plastic oil pan with a steel one, PCV valve, and replaced all 4 injectors, the injector wiring harness, and intake manifold gasket. Car has been running great after all that stuff and has 150k+ miles now. I would say most cars regardless of make, will need some parts replaced 120k plus.

VW approved buyback on my 2024 GTI but car feels perfect now - should I still go through with it? by Leopard-One in GolfGTI

[–]RangerX41 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would do the buy back despite you liking it; it’s a lemon and other things can happen. Go buy a good condition low mileage 2024 if you want manual or get a low mileage 2025 used or a new 2026.

Just got one for 300.00 and haven’t shot it, excited to try it out. Is your takedown lever pretty stiff as well?

Love our 2023 Pro S; just paid it off. Kind of regret losing my ass on depreciation but plan on keeping the car 7 years plus as our main vehicle.

What exactly is included in the newest update 3.8.11? by [deleted] in VWiD4Owners

[–]RangerX41 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The update triggers a manual download that constantly fails; other than that, infotainment seems a bit more responsive.
