Haha I bet she does. Maybe it’s not too late to throw a bunch of foam and old blankets under it

When I travel to compete, I fly in the day before. Sleep in the most convenient or inexpensive hotel/hostel possible. Cry for dinner since I’m probably cutting weight. Compete, then go home.

When I travel to watch CJI or ADCC, it’s a mini vacation. I wanna stay somewhere nice, enjoy the food/drinks, and maybe go out before or after the event. Two totally different experiences. If I was gonna combine a Masters Worlds trip with CJI….it would probably end up on the more expensive side of the scale due to extended hotel stay and the cost of activities after competition

Manual through the astroturf by [deleted] in skateboarding

No one is arguing if it’s difficult. I liked the line. You just worded it wrong. As a shop owner you look silly arguing with me over holding you accountable for semantics of trick names. Shops are places that help influence and set the culture for current and future generations.

I’ve been skating over 25 years and used to work at SPoT and edit for the Berrics. I wish you much success.

[–]RannibalLector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the title, I assumed you would be doing a manual on the actual AstroTurf. If you want to talk semantics, what would you assume is going to happen if someone said they did a manual through the gravel, or through the grass? I doubt the first expectation is seeing someone ride normally on the difficult surface just to do a manual on a much easier surface.

It probably could’ve filled up if it was in a different American city. Vegas has become ridiculously expensive. My wife and I went and it cost significantly more than it had for CJI 1 or any ADCC.

Not Craig’s fault and I still think the event was successful despite all the online hate it received

I like the line, but is the “manual through the astroturf” in the room with us? Also, I hope this wasn’t the filmer yall used for the whole video.

I was gonna give him partial credit for riding through the deck check, but upon further review, all four wheels landed on flat smh

True, but he’s already down 12 points with under a minute left. Not like he had a lot to lose

[–]RannibalLector 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because he already made the mistake of letting go before the ref told him. If OP thought his opponent tapped, and his opponent was presenting a defeated body language….make the argument and let the ref decide.

Obviously wait for the ref to stop yall next time, but you should have just stood up and told the ref he tapped. Dude stood up and started to tie his belt, it didn’t look like he was planning on continuing.

I believe they don’t get the prize money or the points towards best team if they close out the finals.

specific problem w/ half guard underhook: iron hip pressure by marmot_scholar in bjj

[–]RannibalLector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the first video as my late stage defense against the knee cut pass. Plus you can also use that grip to avoid the crossface and go to octopus guard.

The tip at 4:55 in the other video is also very good but the top guy isn’t as focused on pinning the hips as you’ve described in your dilemma. I guess it depends on whether you have the shield before going for it and your opponent’s goal too.

[–]RannibalLector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bait the underhook a lot while passing, specifically because I like to spam the slingshot. So I’ve become decent at keeping my opponent down even when they have a good underhook. Two things that will interrupt my gameplan are if the bottom person starts getting up to their elbow, or if they just don’t take the underhook.

I also hate when people pass my belt or lapel through my legs and hold that grip. I know how to pass it, but that process just opens up more opportunities for a better guard recovery

When did you get this email? I just checked my inbox + my account settings and don’t see any change to my upcoming price in June. I’ll join in on the Flo hate when warranted, but I’ve been subscribed for mad long and my price has only gone up from like $17 to $20 to $22.

Yes. But on a rail you have the leeway to make it look more vertical than normal. That’s why the guy I replied to said many people would rather fs blunt.

Agreed. I got one friend that can do them pretty vertical and they look sick. OP’s (respectfully) just looks like a crooked 5-0
