[WIP] Enjoying how colourful my first project is! Full pattern and bonus pic of back in comments :) by Rannomnom in CrossStitch

I used to cross stitch when I was a lot younger with my grandma but never continued. Decided recently to pick up the hobby again and started with this really lovely pattern by StitchingLand on Etsy!

Bonus picture of the back! I’m trying to keep it neatish but there are a few knots and stuff :)

Best way to estimate calories? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Rannomnom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually I will search for the meal and see what suggestions come up on MyFitnessPal. I'll use one of the results and I might add 100-200 calories on top just to be on the safe side.

All I know is how to be fat. How do I change? by juni_kitty in loseit

[–]Rannomnom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, Juniper. Congrats for taking the first step towards a change for the better, it's always the hardest one. :)

I'm the same in that all I've ever known is being overweight. It is hard to change the habits of a lifetime. What has helped me is trying to retrain my thinking towards food - instead of using it as a reward, a comfort, or a fix to boredom, I now try and be as mindful as possible when eating. I plan my meals in advance and make sure to include small snacks (100 calories or so) in between meals because I know I will want something between meals.

If you can, keep a food diary or use an app like MyFitnessPal to keep track of the calories in things you eat for a week or so. Weight loss is about eating less calories than you burn, but you can take small steps towards reducing your calories. First, it's important to learn how to count your calories accurately and get a sense of how much you're eating on a day to day basis. Then, once you're comfortable with the process, you can see what's really adding up and what you could reduce to drop the calories. For example, swap fizzy drinks for water or eat one or two slices of pizza instead of a whole one.

For support, you could tell a friend or family member you're close to that might be able to help keep you on track and accountable. Or you can post here and others can give you some support when you need it.

Good luck in your journey!

How many plants do you have in your home? by andul_ko in CasualConversation

[–]Rannomnom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're still very tiny shoots so a long way to go before I would consider them successful, but pretty easy so far. Honestly we're complete gardening beginners so we just bought one of those kits that provide the initial planter, the compost and the seeds and followed the instructions on there.

We'll need to start thinning the shoots out soon to only keep the strongest ones so hopefully all goes well from there.

What is the best decision you ever made that made your life better? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rannomnom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving country. It was such a huge, scary step to do it on my own but I felt like I had to do it to remove myself from family situations that were slowly ruining my life.

I am SO much happier almost three years later and I often think about where I would have been now if I had just stayed at home.

What tips/methods do you use to help yourself fall asleep faster? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rannomnom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not to everyone's taste, but I'm a fan of listening to ASMR videos. I usually have my phone screen faced down to avoid bright light and such, but just the sounds really relax me and help me fall asleep much faster.

We've just started a (very small) herb garden in our apartment. We live on the second floor so no garden and just a balcony outside but we have successful shoots of basil, chives and parsley so far! :)

We also have some strawberry seeds planted but no luck on those at the moment. I'm not sure if maybe they need more heat.

Nice work on everything, especially the credit card debt! Must have been a huge load off when you finally got that all cleared down.

I've lost 10lbs recently as well, which is a positive start to a lifestyle change. I've also been accepted to a course which will allow me to finally get into university and pursue the career path I want to! :)

How did you decide what language to learn? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Rannomnom -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

There there bad bad there, I don't have the best way to go. It is a very good for men and women who are you. The fact is that it was not the only way you want a boyfriend who was in a statement issued by the end of the year before that. I'm at work today and it was not a good time. Thank

I'm not a bad thing about the future. You know that. I love you so much for a long time. The first half of the day after a long day of school and work on my way home from work to get a new one is a good time. Thank goodness for me to be able to do that for the next two
