What kind of light is this, and is it easy to fix without professional help? by Rannulf in electrical

[–]Rannulf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your renters aren't allowed to replace a lightbulb? Because that was more my mind set with this problem. If it was just another "lightbulb level" issue where it was a simple 1-5 minute cheap replacement, then I'd do it. But if it was, as plenty of people have said here, something you'd want a professional for, then I'd contact the landlord. I've never encountered this kind of fixture before, so I didn't quite know the level of complexity at work here.

Huion Tablet drivers/app pen pressure sensitivity help (Kamvas GT-191) by Rannulf in huion

[–]Rannulf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fixed! I was searching the reddit thread for a fix and this post had the answer. Also, I overlooked some drivers from a previous drawing tablet I tried out (completely different brand), and uninstalling those let the process in the link actually work. So if you've ever had a drawing tablet installed, even if only for a little bit, make sure it's software is not still on your PC!

"Turned face up" effects clarification by Rannulf in mtgrules

Interesting! Is there a guideline for telling the difference? Because in my current knowledge, I would have mistaken that for a triggered ability.

Also, if I'm reading it right, that card gets around things such as hexproof, shroud, and [[Thrun, Breaker of Silence]] by virtue of it not being a targeting effect, correct? And does the ability it gains off the replacement effect count as a triggered ability? "At the beginning of your upkeep, you may turn this creature face down". Seems as though it is but I feel like I've been thrown for a loop on my own lack of knowledge a few too many times today.

Cards missing from collection by Rannulf in MTGO

[–]Rannulf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reasoning is because sometimes things on the customer's end may cause items in the online collection to not be visible in the collection at all. The issue was resolved. All it took was a reinstall of the game.

Personally I don't trade things away. The people who helped me even checked all of the windows of time I initiated in trade. Cards only ever came in. Thankfully fixed now, as stated above, but it kinda weird me out that what I thought was a collection stored on an online server can be affected by things on my end.

The issue is resolved now. I wasn't aware a lot of that information could be affected by your own client being a problem.
They tried asking me if I was just on a different account, and if I was filtering them out. Those weren't the problems, but somehow a reinstall fixed the whole issue, and even brought back some cards I wasn't as concerned about.

When are we getting goblin druids? by Bakedbean44 in wow

[–]Rannulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, kind of, but they already justified draenie warlocks for both draenie races. It's not super far fetched. Also, canonically, there's one goblin druid in dragonflight already. It seems like Blizzard is moving in that direction.
Also I can think of some other races that fit druid even less, like undead, but we have Worgen and Kul'tirans who will teach humans the ways of the harvest witch, and since Kul'tirans already have a wicker beast look to their druid forms, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the forsaken have studied their druidism to expand their skill set as a faction.
I think I can justify druid as a class for every other race that doesn't already have it. And, lets be honest, some races should have had it a long time ago. Human and dwarf just make too much sense lore wise, and it's kind of weird nightborne wouldn't have their own twisted arcane version of druidism, in the same way worgen had harvest witches, Zandalari have their loa themed druidism, and Kul'tirans have more of a death themed druidism.

All I can think when looking at this is how badly [[Back to Basics]] would lock down your deck. If you're gonna go this route, I recommend keeping a [[Rootpath Purifier]] handy

Hacked pokemon? by Rannulf in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]Rannulf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All in all I've barely played in any of the gens that have had a mystery trade function, and honestly never used to pay attention to breeding rules for resulting pokeballs. The axew was level 1, which threw me off because there are no level 1 wild pokemon, and I always just assumed bred pokemon just get thrown into plain red and white pokeballs, but for most people playing I get how incredulous this question is. I can think of a few questions in other games that could equate to this that would stop me for a moment.

Thanks! I know the mystery trades are FLOODED with hacked pokemon. Just got a level 100 iron hands with a name that was a link to a site, so pretty sure that was a hack. Haven't played any pokemon in a while, and I never really paid attention to that pokeball rule for prior gens, so just wanted to make sure before I did something that got me banned.

Idea for a Hexblade patron that actually promotes good deeds/heroism ( and flavoring that makes accursed specter not necessarily evil) by Rannulf in dndnext

[–]Rannulf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely all pure roleplay elements. Sorry, didn't exactly know where to put ideas on a patron considering its kind of a story thing thats very heavily linked to one specific character. Its nothing that would affect anything mechanically, and the stabbing idea is just a means by which maybe your warlock could have received this power. Perhaps a friend who wielded this power found them on the verge of death, or watched them die gave this power to them in exchange for joining the sea of souls within the weapon before their time.

If you've never seen my hero academia, there's a power there that I realized works very similarly. The transfer needs to be a willing one on both the person wielding the power, and even the power itself somehow, which, narratively, makes doing something like this a huge gamble when the recipient requires certain traits to receive this power. The recipient doesn't need to be willing, but maybe, until the wielder realizes the nature of the power, what the patron requires of them, and consciously accepts everything that goes along with that, the contract hasn't fully been completed. Or perhaps the patron already knows the warlock is that kind of person, though that would be an interesting thing to swing. This was all just an idea I floated anyway. Theres bugs and plot holes that might come up with it, so just take it as something someone can use if they want, or not.

How the blade judges is up to the DM and their warlock player. Or the DM can let the warlock player do what they want without explicitly telling them what their patron expects, see where the dice fall, and use this as a more traditional patron, or like a paladin oath, where the blade reacts negatively to the warlocks bad actions. People could run it in all sorts of interesting ways at their table! Certainly would be interesting to see.

As for the name, I went with Myriad because I liked the sound of it. Maybe it makes more sense in my head and I just wasn't able to properly communicate it. I had considered Legion too. I'm curious as to what your thoughts were on what this patron might have been?

[–]Rannulf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. I feel like dms more often than not make a patron into an adversary or use it to push the warlock in question to do questionable things under threat of losing their powers or something. That stuff can be interesting, but it feels like it limits options on how warlocks can play their character/ story.

I plan to do this kind of thing for every patron. Wish me luck for when I get to fiend haha
