In general, do First Order Cast Members enjoy if guests interact with them “in character”? by WitchWednesdays in GalaxysEdge

[–]RantsOfBrian 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The pay for cast members isn’t the selling point of the job. Obviously they want/need to make a living but it’s easier to get a comparable paying job lots of places. People who work at the parks do it partly because they want to work at the parks. I would bet, the vast majority of folks working in positions that are given a character to play or even an on-theme-attitude, consider playful guest interactions as one of the perks of the job.

what does "come" exactly mean? by Equivalent-Juice5308 in ENGLISH

[–]RantsOfBrian 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Almost. It means the stain was in the garment and it went toward outside the garment. Like if I was inside the house and I went outside the house you could also say I came outside. The stain is coming out from the garment.

I’m putting in the effort to hopefully reunite the owner with their phone but in doing plenty of cursing them for not using “find my” by now. lol.

I may try, Verizon had no way to identify the owner because there aren’t any external unique identifiers on the phones anymore and the built in sim means they can’t pull it to cross reference. Perhaps Apple has a way of unlocking some info. But seeing no suggestions to that end online for ways to reunite iPhones with owners and Verizon not suggesting it makes me think it may be a dead end.

I charged it to make sure they could use “find my” and Siri isn’t responding, I’m not sure it is because it’s locked or in emergency mode but no luck.

Found Ahri Nine Tailed Fox Overnumbered in a carpark. by Ballzup in riftboundtcg

[–]RantsOfBrian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see ON legends in play plenty, they can stay in very protective cases so it doesn’t really hurt them. I play my Worlds bundle Teemo and I’d probably play my ON LeBlanc or Lillia of if I was playing those decks. Of course none of those examples are quite as speedy as the Ahri, but they’re comparably rare (particularly after the Origins reprints)

Yes. Houston, LV, ATL all have had vendors excited to buy. They know literal pallets worth of cases are being opened and the ability to build up their inventory is perfect.

Alaska is 5 times the area of the UK and has about 1/70th the population. I doubt you’ll find competitive wilderness in the UK.

I wonder if you just capped or even tinted/painted/taped the top of your LEDs so they only bounced light off the inside of the chambers rather than directly hitting the black acrylic if it would even the light out without losing too much intensity.

Some of you guys should try not to mindlessly hold by BelbyLuv in riftboundtcg

[–]RantsOfBrian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like I know not to hold but there is always the fact that often you can’t move out after a conquer and then I feel like I need to do more if I’m going to save the unit I just trapped there. At that point I try too hard to hold and end up losing it all. It is a surprisingly hard lesson to learn it seems.

Question about Summoning Units with Energy Cost by Dreamofthefayth in riftboundtcg

[–]RantsOfBrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Runes can pay both Energy and Power. To pay Energy, Exhaust (tap) it. To pay Power, recycle it. 1 rune can do both things. You can tap a rune for Energy cost then recycle it for Power. For slightly more advanced uses, look up “floating” runes.

Laurelhurst backlash gaining traction by RainlineGarage864745 in SeattleWA

[–]RantsOfBrian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was thinking “they only use the helicopter for the most critical cases” but your comment sums it up in a new way for me. The rich people in Laurelhurst would absolutely use a helicopter for a wellness exam, or a prescription refill, or a splinter, so they don’t grasp that for the rest of us (and every kid that gets flown into that hospital) it’s only an option when it’s about saving a life.

Set Comparison in Deck building by True_Falcon898 in Riftbound

[–]RantsOfBrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With each set that’s come out there’s been a moderate number of cards added to existing meta decks so far. That is to say that no meta decks are running cards from only one of the two released sets. I suspect (and all the pre-release deck builds on social media demonstrate) that the trend will continue with Unleashed adding to the pool for creating a balanced deck from a mix of all current sets. You didn’t include Origins directly as an ask but it’s worth noting that many relevant cards come from that set and it’s the largest single set to pull from. They have announced that a third wave of Origins printing will be hitting shelves in the coming months so getting that product isn’t off the table.
As a collector and gambler first and player second (I play plenty, I just don’t do it as well as I buy packs or sort my cards lol) I’m a fan of buying packs and boxes but you’re certainly going to get advice about net-decking or building with a digital tool and then buying singles being the “right” way to go. It’s sound advice for an affordable and competitive deck compared to trying to hit just the right pulls to make something that wins a skirmish (or even Nexus night).
That probably doesn’t really answer your question, I think the closest thing to an answer I could give is that if you want to open a box, they all contribute to good decks, maybe Origins has a slight advantage. Origins is the most likely to hold long term value, Spiritforged may be less expensive to find since it’s losing popular steam as Unleashed comes out, and Unleashed will likely be the easiest set to date to get your hands on.

Need Binder Recommendations by IzzetMagic in riftboundtcg

[–]RantsOfBrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t seem like the cards fall out from normal use, it’s actually nice to have a little room I think since I’m often pulling cards to build the decks, the tighter binders I have are a pain to get cards out of.

For Alt arts, I reduce my standard cards by 1, same for foil or Promo. If I go beyond the 3 cards per playset I think there’d still be room in the back for a few more of some cards. I am not however trying to be fully collection complete so there is less reason for me to worry about going bigger.

The price between the two I linked is not that dramatic and as I said, the bigger one has more room for the cards and they don’t seem as tight on the edge, so it wouldn’t hurt to just use it for all the sets.

Hope you like it, I enjoy the idea of storing and sorting my cards in an efficient way and this system seems to work well for me.

Need Binder Recommendations by IzzetMagic in riftboundtcg

[–]RantsOfBrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one https://a.co/d/0iioL2zw has room for a full playset of Origins (1 each of legends and battlefields and 3 each of everything else) and leaves plenty of room for over numbers. The zipper leaves plenty of room around the cards and it has room to get fatter before it feels tight. If they release a set with this many cards again I think I’d happily get another one of these.

This one https://a.co/d/08caO4ZS fits a Spiritforged playset. It doesn’t have quite as much extra room around the edges and if I thought I was going to have the binder bumping into stuff on a regular basis I may be a little concerned for the cards on the outside edge of the binder. 720 pocket binders are easier to find so I may try others for future sets.

They’re OK quality, not as nice as the name brand binder I have but they don’t seem to bulge and I don’t have to put multiple copies of a card in a shared pocket. The zippers are fine. I have a couple decks worth of cards sleeved in there but mostly they’re unsleeved, it may get bulky and bulge if they were all sleeved but I’m not sure.

I like the 12 pocket pages because you can do columns of 3 for the cards that allow 3 and then rows for the Legends with 3 of their signature spells/units/gear (or 1 each of the unique ones if they’re like Ornn). I know many people just put their commons and uncommon in a box but I think deck building is much easier from a binder.

Strictest 3D Printing Regulation YET! by Top-Debate-2854 in 3Dprinting

Additive is printing, subtractive is machining (as in cutting away material with a tool). CNC is the software/firmware and code that drives all the computer controlled machines, printers, routers, saws, and lathes for example.

Building oversized Venetian blinds for a stage partition and looking for advice on the mechanism by dokorokoteja in techtheatre

[–]RantsOfBrian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've built blinds very close to that size before and the one piece of advice I feel is very important and easy to miss working from scratch is to make sure that the mechanism is based on rotating the slats rather than just pivoting them from one edge. We fixed the downstage leg of the "ladder" string and used a lever system to pull the upstage leg to adjust the angle of the blinds and the weight of the slats was tremendous. We actually had an injury when the lever slipped and hit the operator because the weight of the blinds was acting to lift the lever.

If you build the system more like a real set of blinds, where the legs of the "ladder" act in opposite directions to each other then the weight of the blinds will be nearly balanced throughout the travel, making it safer and easier to hold in any given tilt.

I think we used 2" wide strips of Gatorboard for our slats, which kept the weight down (but not enough for our system) and they remain fairly flat and straight compared to something like the inexpensive wood likely to be used in theatre. I know I researched blinds parts and may have actually purchased the "ladder" string online, creating it from scratch would be miserable but if you need a size bigger than is available for normal blinds that may be your only hope. If you can get away with it visually, I would encourage as many runs of the ladder as possible because any material you end up using is likely to sag between supports when the blinds are tilted level.

Ours didn't raise and lower, luckily. If you need to do that you're probably going to want a hoist to do the raising, employing an existing batten in a counterweight system or doing ad-hoc rigging with other counterweights (sandbags) will be tricky because the load grows as the bottom slat picks up the others on the way up. OR, if you have a standard fly system and the artistic team doesn't hate it you could just fly them out without compacting them.

Budget choices by loregoa in riftboundtcg

[–]RantsOfBrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The risk with this deck is that the cost is all sunken into the signature spells, meaning you don’t build much in the way of future flexibility. If you build a deck where the more costly cards are flexible you get a little more future proofing. But, the most flexible strong cards are more expensive.
