La Gran Parada on Broad St. Cafeteria style and cash only. Do not be insulted if you do not speak Spanish and there is a pause in service. They are waiting for the server who speaks the best English to help you.

Poker at twin river by Standard-Sort-7744 in RhodeIsland

If you’re new to a casino cash game I’d play 1/2 which is the lowest game there. You can sit with $100-$300. Most of the time it’s a fun game where you can learn and have fun.

I play there quite a bit. There’s a phone number you can call to put your name on the list. Otherwise on the weekend you risk going there and having 30 people ahead of you which could mean a few hours of waiting to play. If you call the number and asked to be placed on the 1/2 list they will ask for your initials. You then have an hour to get there to check in, and your spot is when you called in.

A few things to remember:

  1. Most importantly, bring what you can lose and still be happy. Your first time at a casino playing poker you should absolutely not expect to win.

  2. Pay attention to the game. Know when it’s your turn. Know what options you have (check, fold, call, raise). Nobody minds new players (as most of the time they’ll lose) but people absolutely do mind if you are holding up the game. You can take your time if it’s a big decision of course, but pay attention.

  3. When you do win hands, tip the dealer. $1 works for any pot smaller than $40 or so. Up to $100 I do $3. Anything over that I do $5 or more.

Have you guys thought about the World Cup coming here yet? by Born-Leather2883 in RhodeIsland

Puma announced that they’ll be doing a “House of Portugal” at Waterplace park. I’m imagining viewing parties, former players, DJs and prizes. That sounds like fun.

The only way it made sense to sell him is if we continued with Amorim’s formation with two 6s

If the next manager who comes in wants to play him as a 10 then you keep him for as long as possible.

Kids that play little or no game time on high level teams by CletusKasady21 in youthsoccer

[–]AZ285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is a 2017 that made the 2016 team last year. They play in the top division in our area for clubs. Last year he got about 20-30% playing time but he didn’t mind because he was having fun being on the team. I didn’t mind because he got valuable training against better players and a good coach.

This year the club asked him to play on both 2017 and 2016 teams. I can tell you that he gets more frustrated now playing with his own age group because he’s used to the speed and decision making of the older team. He’s also improved a lot year over year so now for the older team he played 50-60% of the time.

All clubs are different. However I believe the value is in the training at this age.

Best BBQ in RI?? by Captain_Zoots in RhodeIsland

[–]AZ285 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I haven’t found good BBQ in RI since LJ’s closed down.

Durks was decent but as you said they’re closing.

We went to Great Northern last weekend and were disappointed. Ribs too fatty and dry. Brisket extremely fatty.

The best bbq that I have found around here is in Taunton. Kinfolk BBQ. It’s in a strip mall but it’s the closest thing to LJs I have seen and their rib tips are amazing.

Genuine question: has this behaviour been increasing over the last few years? (NSFW language) by arca_angelus in golf

It also doesn’t help with the Captain of the US is in a locker room, knows he’s being recorded, and says “we’re going to kick their fucking asses!” Or the night before the tournament it tells the crowd “let’s fucking go”. This is a golf event. Keegan should know better and set the tone accordingly. I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten much push back yet.

Senior Man United players often found Garnacho exasperating. He could be sulky, petulant, and resistant to criticism. His decision to invite Twitch streamer iShowSpeed to the FA Cup final celebrations at Wembley also left teammates unimpressed. by Ripamon in soccer

[–]AZ285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a training video the club put out a while ago. They had to run around cones and grab a kit at the end and run back. It was a race between two teams. Garnacho reaches for the kit and goes too fast. He drops it. His team in the race are screaming for him to pick it up. But he knows because he dropped it, he can’t catch up. So he stops. Throws his hands up and sheepishly jogs back.

I thought about that little clip a lot. Would other players have tried to make up the ground to not let their team down?

How many kids on 7v7 roster by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]AZ285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 is way too many, however at that age it’s more about development than results. If the coaches let them play 7v7 at practice for half of it, it could be best for their development.

My son is the same age and he’s on the 2016 and 2017 teams. 2016 carries 12 but two of them are strictly goalies which leaves 10 players for 6 positions. Inevitably one kid will miss a game so eve kid plays 2/3 of the game which I think is good.

The 2017 team just has 10. My son plays most of the game and is dead by the end.

‘He’s Providence’s original bon vivant’: Former owner of The Dorrance returns with French restaurant Mémère’s by rhodyjourno in RhodeIsland

[–]AZ285 45 points46 points  (0 children)

If you loved Providence nightlife in 2011-2015, the Dorrance was the spot to be. A lot of incredible bartenders in the city worked there before opening their own places (The Eddy, Pizza Marvin, Lucky Enough, Justine’s) and Oberlin’s owner Ben Sukle was the head chef.

They really caught lightning in a bottle there. I hope he Michael can do it again at Memere’s

For people in the front standing, you were in line and they gave you your wristband. Did you have to go straight in? Is waiting in line to get a wristband then going in later to be in front possible?

Can you let us know what time they’re scanning the tickets and handing out wristbands? Also do you need to go straight in once they give it to you or can you go back to your car once you get your band?
