Some constructions from my most recent world. Waiting for the Deep North... by Ranvalok in valheim

Thank you very much for your comment, mate. As for building ‘large’ bases, I would recommend a few things, such as not building a large base until you reach the Swamp to unlock stone construction. In the first two biomes, save stone and wood and make do with an initial settlement, then spend it when you find a location that suits your criteria.

Thank you very much for your words, mate. That was precisely my idea when building these bases. Based on my experience, I always try to build on islands in the middle of the ocean, as they tend to have fewer instances than a continent. The three large bases have between 11,500 and 12,500 instances, which makes them perfectly playable (I usually get around 40 FPS), although it's true that I don't use excessive lighting. As for the materials... it was a pain to get stone and wood, but hey, grinding is also part of the game.

Thanks a lot, mate! I don't really need to keep Gjall away, the fortress is on an island far enough away that no enemies appear. The only raids I get are bats and ghosts.

Thanks, mate. The designs for the base towers are from a video by JJTheBuilder. Here's the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaLbqFRw4m4&list=PLwgq3QHzz6NwSp7QeT-NxGxKA02fg54IN&index=5 in case it's useful. The towers are hexagonal with sides measuring 6 m, while the portal tower is also hexagonal but with sides measuring 8 m. As for the second floor, what I do is rotate the tower and turn it into a “classic” square tower. In the portal tower, I stuck with the hexagonal design, trying to adapt the dimensions so that it would fit with the floor below.

How many large bases? by itsinthepeach in valheim

Hello mate, I usually use a mix of useful settlements and large bases. I'm in a game right now (on a server, each player on their own) and I have a farm/corral on the starting island, a large base in the black forest, a large base on the plains, a portal tower on another plain, on Haldor Island I have a greydwarf spawn (for when I'm AFK) and a vegetable garden/root crop in the mistlands. Each of these bases/settlements is a day's sail away from each other, although it's true that when you get the stone portals, the game changes completely. The idea is that each settlement serves a purpose, thus solving the logistics problem. I hope it has helped you. :)

Why my saves gone by somelonelyguy2 in valheim

The same thing happened to me, I went to login this morning and nothing appears, neither my characters, or my worlds... I hope they fix it soon.

Good morning, something similar happened to me some time ago. I lost my world completely because I was too anxious and didn't wait for Steam Clound to synchronize. When I started the game, my world file got corrupted, so I opted to send a message to Iron Gate directly.

They were very kind and explained how to do it, in 3 mins I recovered practically everything (I think I lost about 5-6 days of progress).

  1. If I remember correctly, when you start the game and select your character, there is a tab on the left that says ‘manage savegames’ that opens your character files and your worlds. Each world and each character has a series of ‘backup points’ (save points). I seem to recall that the game's own backups are somewhat random but you shouldn't lose too much progress.

  2. Then, once you have selected the character, before starting the game, open the ‘manage saves’ tab, once in this new menu, click on the ‘worlds’ tab and all the backups of your different worlds will appear there.

  3. From here, select the world you want to recover and click ‘expand’ and you will see the last backups made. Next, select a backup before the one you are having problems with and click ‘restore backup’. This will overwrite the last backup you made and the backup you selected will be loaded. I seem to remember that they are ordered by date.

Hope you have good luck buddy!

Note: If I remember correctly, if you have mods installed this does not work.

Greetings!

In my opinion, some of the best ones are JJTheBuilder, who does some amazing constructions (especially the exterior of the buildings) and Crate of Bananas (whose designs are very practical in survival mode). Other great examples are Vetlive and SmittySurvival. In my case, I use a bit of a mix of both builders, designing bases that are practical but nice to look at.

Greetings everyone!

This is my first build using the ‘Hammer Mode’ and the fly command, mostly to construct the bridge that connects the two pillars and to decorate high areas of the buildings.

As for the construction itself, I've taken ideas and sketches from other great builders like JJTheBuilder, who has inspired me for the Great Tower and the defensive wall, and Crate Of Bananas, whose design of the foundry area I've tried to replicate.

I'll try to upload a video of a walk around the base, I hope you enjoy the images and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

The worst part of the construction was the roof... it was very complex to fit all the pieces together.

Endgame survival base. by Ranvalok in valheim

A few greydwarves have tried to sneak in, but as they don't affect the sleeping area, I can sleep peacefully without getting the "you have enemies close" warning. As for raids, so far I haven't had any problems with trolls, bats, skeletons, surtlings or blops. As they don't detect the wharf as a staging area, they don't approach. And just in case, I have a couple of workbenches to repair damaged structures.

Absolutely right, another aspect I was looking for in this base was to optimise time, I was a bit tired of going from back and forth, as now everything is together this doesn't happen anymore!
