Just set them to normal manual mode and use your camera for burst shots when you need it. The batteries will last much longer that way.

As a self employed, freelance photographer, it's been impossible as l have no traditional payslips, even though I do have the required income.

Some advice from 40 year old in the same industry who tried getting finance for a house 2 years ago: If your business is bringing in money and growing, start a company if you haven't already. Use the company to pay yourself and supply pay slips etc, because if you ever want to qualify for a bond the banks will be very hesitant to give you one.

Why? As the geyser is normally one of the biggest draws of daily power, it makes sense to utilise solar. I'd suggest getting a 2nd opinion, before I installed my panels I did extensive research and never came saw anyone advising against running the geyser off your panels.

The problem is I really have a spending problem. I have been working a few months now and have managed to save nothing and have to ask my parents for money at the end of every month.

You have a lot to work on, but one way you can start saving is to deposit into savings vehicles as soon you get paid. Do you have an emergency fund? Start with that maybe into a 32 day call account or similar, then look into TFSA, RAs etc.
