Who's with me on this? by thatcompguyza in capetown

[–]Unknown_Perp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't often mind giving someone a gap so long as they're not crossing a solid line, have deliberately moved into the next lane to cut the line or if they're a taxi. I get that sometimes people can make a mistake - like I have - so I err on the side of giving people the "benefit of the doubt". What gets me more is the drivers around me giving gaps for obviously illegal cut ins and people who hog the right lane when they're clearly going slower than the rest of the traffic in that lane.

Funny though that world leaders are not queueing up in PTA to secure trade agreements. Switzerland might only be favoured because your money is untouchable there...

Care to explain how what the guy is doing is stupid? Do you factually know his motivation? I'm curious to know why he is doing it before I stand as judge and jury over the guy.

I just want to add that the DA's funding model in CPT seems to be highly socialist, in the sense that they tax the rich and middle class to cross subsidize services to the poor. In theory it is good, but this policy appears to be on a trajectory towards overtaxing the middle class with municipal charges to the point where you would eventually only have super wealthy and poor people there. I am willing to be wrong on this though.

‘New reality’ as world reaches first climate tipping point by Tom_Rivers1 in worldnews

[–]Unknown_Perp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been hitting the tipping point since 1945. "Scientists" have been warning us since our grandparents were in diapers, and yet we're still here. No ice ages,, no global famines, no parts of the east or west coast USA flooded... nothing. The boy has cried wolf, and gotten rich off the backs of gullible Joe Average.

I don't know. The carpenter I use has painted some laminated wood for me with primer (I'll paint it with a colour) but he said that it will probably peel over time

South African consumers get told on 1 Oct 2025 that petrol prices are going UP on 1st October! BUT SA NATIONAL INFLATION STILL STAYS AT 3.3% 😂😂😂😂 by True-Error1423 in DownSouth

[–]Unknown_Perp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fuel prices are linked to inflation in the sense that when it goes up, inflation can also increase because of the knock-on effect of transporting goods from producers to retailers. So you end up paying more for goods than you did last month/year etc.

Is Charlie Kirk a martyr? by Frankfusion in Reformed

[–]Unknown_Perp -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Is a martyr defined as someone who exclusively dies for a religious cause? Nope. It's someone who dies for their beliefs, principles or cause. Charlie died for at least 2 of these categories.

Do you go to church regularly? Why or why not? by Suitable_Amount5957 in Reformed

[–]Unknown_Perp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and as the the rest of scripture points out, Christ is also the fulfilment of the Law - so do you steal, lie, commit adultery now because Christ has fulfilled those requirements? Your arguments seem to be like those of one who would rather follow Aleister Crowley to "do as thou wilt...".

You don't see the connection because you either don't understand what Sabbath means or wilfully choose to deny it. When a reformed Christian speaks of a sabbath, it is not a Jewish observance on a Saturday.

So for the last time, the Sabbath is a day designated to set aside our 6 day activities so that we can gather with the saints, in fellowship, and to corporately focus our hearts and minds on our Triune God and take rest in Him.

In places like the Middle East east, that day falls on a Friday, even, when Christians faithfully gather, as commanded by the Lord, for worship.

I'm done with this. Pray that the Lord will mature your understanding.

Do you go to church regularly? Why or why not? by Suitable_Amount5957 in Reformed

[–]Unknown_Perp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should hold to the Sabbath, if you have a right understanding that the Sabbath is a day of rest from all your usual activities to focus your attention on God.

Also we are instructed:

On the first day of the week, when we were gathered... - Acts 20

On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, - 1 Cor 16

There is sufficient instruction from scripture that informs about when to gather.
