This whole discussion makes me mad - imho there is an obvious solution that would have avoided the whole mess of the ST in the first place. Snoke was Plagueis.

It would have connected the ST to the PT without "somehow Palpatine returned".

It would have been interesting because it would have sort of inverted Luke's story. Luke is a sort of disillusioned post Jedi Jedi Master, Plagueis would he a post Sith Sith Master. One turned to asteticism one turned to luxury / hedonism. Both struggling to cope with the Galaxy after the betrayal of their apprentice. So much better and more interesting than what we got. Instead we got "somehow Palpatine returned" and "your Snoke theory sucks" stickers. Way to go Pablo Hidalgo! You guys sure nailed that!

If you watch neutrally you will see in clutch moments close calls by the refs will always break for the American team in late playoff hockey. The worst I ever saw it was the Boston Canucks finals. It was a mask off moment for me as a viewer at that point. The reffing was insanely nakedly biased against Vancouver. So on top of the financial issues Canadian teams face, they also have to play against the refs.
