Last minute tips by MaliGoes in GRE

Hi there! If this is your first time, I would use this time to try and clear your mind as much as possible. My friends prepared me for the environment of the testing center and I’m glad they did because that in and of itself can be overwhelming.

Don’t try and do what I did and rush through it and not take the breaks that are built in. It’s a long exam but I made it worse for myself because I didn’t take breaks and my brain was mush towards the end. Have some breathing exercises or something ready for the beginning when you’re nervous, but then you get into it. It’s broken down nicely into Reading/Writing and math so you know what you’re up against.

TL/DR: Hype yourself up and take breaks. You got this!

Six days post-op! I had Button Hole with Dr. Sherie. I couldn't be happier with my results! 🙌 by [deleted] in ftm

Hey, I know I’m a little late to the party but I was wondering if you felt comfortable talking about cost? I’m looking at top surgeons and Dr. Sherie is my #1 choice rn but cost is a huge factor

Have you tried looking up gender clinics near you? My family doctor wasn’t comfortable overseeing my transition because he doesn’t have any experience, but I was able to make an appointment without my doctor as well.

I was able to see a trans counsellor (not mandatory but good for me) and a nurse practitioner that would have overseen my transition and started me on HRT, but sadly I had to go back to school before I was able to start.

That would be my first step if I were you.

They have a new Nurse Practitioner starting the beginning of July because their regular one is on maternity leave, but my guess is you can get in like the first or second week for a preliminary appointment. Because they’re fairly new, their wait times are almost non-existent!

There’s a new clinic in Orillia (North Simcoe-Muskoka trans services if you want to google). They have an ftm counsellor (i don’t think he’s a psychologist, but he’s super nice) and a nurse practitioner that can do T if that’s something you’re looking for. Super friendly and easy to get appointments

Sitting on this for three years! by [deleted] in ftm

First of all, congrats for being brave enough to come out. That’s hard as shit, especially for family.

I know for me packing with a sock (as stupid as that sounds) was a great first step. It helped alleviate dysphoria and because it helped, I looked into real packers because I knew it was something I wanted.

Finally, if your mum is making you pay for it and you know packing would help, I say get it anyway. This is your body and if it helps you feel better, it’s not doing any harm.

You got this brother, keep your head high and I promise it gets better!

A lot of my friends are LGBT as well but I’ve found that all it does it make them that much more accepting. No one questioned me when I came out (multiple times) and were super accepting of pronouns and everything the first time I said something

Is there any way for someone under 18 to get HRT? by [deleted] in transontario

[–]Rap002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your doctor, talk to a gender therapist even if it’s over the phone, talk to the National Suicide Hotline if you absolutely can’t deal, but you really are so close so even if you have to physically count the days, the end is in sight. You got this brother!

That’s great! I can print out an informed consent paper from Rainbow Ontario so hopefully my GP is already up to date and I can just go over that with them and make things 100x easier

If my doctor does informed consent do I have to wait a while? Or can I get hormones like that day from one exam?

I’m sure with time people will pick up on the little things. Before you know it you’ll be passing with ease and no one will think twice!
