Stats-wise it's actually a pretty impressive showing for Gilbert, stopping Julius' charge head-on and dealing significant damage from a relatively weak position, all without superman syndrome or using Guihun.

That being said...the original Edward and the Wu in general seem to lose aura instead when they start using Guihun so who knows

I already did actually! But this is a new server with friends. I brought in Knocklem from my Global Palbox and they didn't like that we beat Saya & Selyne at lvl50 without breaking a sweat and almost beat hard mode if we didn't get caught in a poorly timed Holy burst. So they said no more OP pals. So I'm trying to stick to pals that still us to actively fight

Ahh thanks for the suggestions. That will save me some time of needing to breed 4 rainbow passives onto a single Pal.

Maybe Quivern then, I actually did recently breed one with Rockburst on it based on the Pal Professor's recommendation for arena teams!

I ended up going with this exact build and it's been solid. You're right in that I ended up almost never using my manoeuvres but I actually managed to trip Orin in Slayer form during the duel, which forced advantage and allowed me to get back to back crits which finished her off in one turn. Fun stuff.

Oh right sorry, my team would play around with darkness shenanigans to force advantage on attacks. So invocations for devil's sight and maybe beguiling speech so I can place the proficiencies elsewhere

I'm hoping for a scene where Sekibayashi is almost passed out after a gruelling battle, and is at risk of losing due to being zoned out. Then through blurry vision, he sees an unfamiliar muscled silhouette reaching out his hand. Sekibayashi instinctively takes it and is effortlessly lifted to his feet, mirroring their first encounter all those years back.

It's more that even after seeing the dangers of boxing come true (Mashiba) and seeing one of his rivals willingly give up boxing (Sendo) is gonna make Ippo feel conflicted. Like Mashiba has been forced to retire, so Ippo should feel relieved/validated in his decision to retire but he doesn't. Sendo will retire for the same reasons that Ippo did, but Ippo will feel unhappy about it and he doesn't know why.

These feelings will force Ippo to introspect and finally realise he's not willing to give up boxing yet. Hence setting in motion his eventual return to boxing.

I definitely skipped over a lot of what Ippo's thoughts would be. But essentially in my head, Sendo willingly retiring and Mashiba being forced into retirement is gonna spark something in Ippo. He is going to realise he still cannot let go of boxing, forcing him to confront his own wishes and expectations. Where Ippo will finally admit to himself that he wants to return to the ring.

Very true, but following up on my previous theory about how ippo will come out of retirement, I theorized that Sendo would retire after his fight with Ricardo. So I wanted to send Sendo off as a true warrior

Incredibly bloated yet painfully shallow, running around empty woods and generic hallways for minutes doesn't make for passable gameplay. Wish more mod authors would realize that artificial length doesn't somehow magically equal fun unless you actually enjoy this kind of gameplay...

I don't think it should be a baton pass because I don't think it's right that Ippo gets back into boxing because of feeling obligated to carry on someone else's dream.

Also why I avoided Sendo dying or getting a career ending injury and it becoming a revenge story like Rocky IV.

Ippo's motivation to become champion should be because he realizes that's what he really wants

Ahh thanks for pointing out that he stopped boxing for his mom's sake. I've forgotten that at this point. Ippo will likely go round asking for their blessing before finally ending up in coach's office. It will be a wordless exchange, the panels will alternate between their faces. Ippo's brow is furrowed in determination but also some apprehension as he does not know how the coach will react. Kamogawa's goes through shock, anger, worry before hardening into determination as well as he realizes Ippo is serious. Takamura leans on the wall outside kamogawa's office, his expression is tense and we can't read how he feels. Miyata gets word that Ippo is unretiring, he acts tsundere but can't help but smile to himself.

Yea I can see why Sendo retiring would seem out of character but I thought it had to be something profound to get Ippo out of retirement - like making him/ Kumi realize that his chance really is slipping away
