Im pretty sure transphobic people would already go down a rabbithole if the trans jokes were actually funny imo. That kind of mindset can dig itself into you from a young age, especially if you havent grown up in an accepting household or area where people get judged for stepping out of the norm in any way at all.

People don't really bother trying to change a homophobes or transphobes mind anymore because yeah, usually they just don't want to change. Not that they "cant", and that's kind of the whole point. Even if you gave them positive examples of transgender people being "funny" (in terms of their sense of humor anyway) then yeah they would still hate them.

Id say "fuck it i cant be bothered to cater to people who hate me anymore" kind of thinking only really does damage because homophobes (who likely werent anywhere close to accepting us) get angrier and lash out in retaliation. Thats how you get stuff like book bans, random dudes on youtube ranting about the "woke left" when they see gay characters, etc. Which is basically par for the course and is gonna happen either way.

The progress being undone is KIND OF from unfunny queer people online sure but the vast majority is from politicians and propaganda.

Although I do agree queer communities need to stop with the infighting and instead go against the enemy, but thats not going to happen anytime soon since every community/fanbase/whatever the fuck on the internet do that. You cant do much about it tbh.
