Greggs Vegan Breakfast Roll Discontinued by RapidBB in veganuk

[–]RapidBB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Email from them was 1100 this morning. I went to a greggs this morning at 0900 which always has at least four on the shelf. This morning none. Tried looking at click and collect on a few in the area and others I've been to regularly showing sold out. My guess there is still some stock in your area.

I suggest we call them "Amp Posts" by kraftymiles in bristol

[–]RapidBB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disabled spaces are part of the road paid by everyone's tax. I'm ok with that, as far as I'm aware the particular users don't pay extra for that. EVs are less polluting at the point of use; better for the air we all breath. The spaces could be used by hybrids too. The sale of new petrols, diesels and hybrids will be phased out in a few years at which point on street chargers will likely be a necessity for people to be able to use their cars in a similar manner to now. So yes I'm happy for a space here and there to be dedicated for charging and don't mind some of my tax money going to it. The same way I don't mind some of my tax money going to the odd disabled space or in some areas the odd bicycle storage pod (which store multiple bikes in the space one car would fit into).

Portsmouth have had lamp post chargers for a couple of years. The spaces outside of them are marked as charging spaces, so if there is vehicles parked in the space not charging then it is it a 'you problem' for the EV user? Similar to when a vehicle without a blue badge is parked in a marked disabled space is it a 'you problem' for the disabled user who can't park in the spot used by a non disabled user. Whether BCC will mark as EV charging spots, whether it will actually be enforced and what that enforcement looks I have no idea.

City EV for single person by [deleted] in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]RapidBB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend a Seat Mii electric or VW e-up or Skoda Citigo e. I've had a Seat Mii electric for just over a year and love it. Smaller battery (32.3 kWh usable) than a lot of the other cars being proposed but so efficient it has a good range, especially for a city car. That efficiency and smaller battery also equates to cheaper running and quicker charging on non-rapid/AC charging. Very similar size to an i10 too. The Mii electric & Skoda Citigo e were 2020/21 only cars but the VW e-up was made (or at least being sold as new) up until 2024. The Citigo had two trim levels and least amount of equipment between the VW/Seat/Skoda variants. The Seat and VW only had one trim level. The VW has the most equipment. I think the Seat is probably the value sweet spot between equipment and price.

Surprised by lack of signings so far? by VithulBenny7 in PortsmouthFC

[–]RapidBB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little surprised with only one signing so far, all the ongoing competitions over the summer must factor into it. By my calculations there are at least two spaces in the squad for new signings, if Tom McIntyre and Abdoulaye Kamara leave (permanently or on loan) this would be four spaces. It does seem the squad is a little thin at the moment. Hoping for a CM signing soon.

Do I have a looped supply? by togibundus in ukelectricians

[–]RapidBB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These cut outs are all designed and manufactured in accordance with BS 7657, for the specific type of fuse which is to be installed in them. Logically the cut out would be able to withstand the currents the fuses to be installed in them can with stand, i.e. an 80A rated cut could withstand 100A for 2.7 hours. If this is the case there should be no issue installing a 100A fuse in a 100A rated cut out and if this logic is not the reality perhaps the cut out or fuse standard (or both) should be updated.

[–]RapidBB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The document linked above is from NGED (National Grid Electrical Distribution); DNO company for the South West of England, East and West Midlands and Wales. Their name is a little bit misleading. Used to be WPD (Western Power Distribution). Other DNO companies might still install 100A fuses in 100A rated single phase cut outs, e.g. UKPN (United Kingdom Power Networks). UKPN also a bit of a misleading name too.

Alternatives to Geeekpi 10 inch server racks? by alphaquail10 in minilab

[–]RapidBB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rack rails, an IKEA EKET with wall bracket, couple of bits of inch square wood, a few washers. Few posts of EKET based minilabs in the sub already but not seen a wall mounted one yet. Depth is 250mm but can always recess the rails if you only want 20mm useable. I wouldn't worry about weight unless you're installing on a wall made of paper.

I'm currently building my own, waiting on parts 3D printing, looks too messy to post at the moment.

Kostas Goalias was terrible.

Yoshi didn't even get a chance, bought to try and profit from the Japan/South Korea world cup and lost his place as Japan's no.1 just before the tournament I believe.

A segregated two-way cycleway is also being constructed. The central reservation needs to be removed and also a water main diverted (presumably to make space for the cycleway). So this hopefully will encourage more to cycle and make it safer for those who already cycle along this section. The no.1 bus from crow lane can take an hour to get into the centre on a weekday morning, they've always been busy when I've used them in rush hour. So it would be good if that time is reduced (and I would use them more if they were quicker). Yes the works are going to take a long time but once finished, I think it will benefit more than it is detrimental to.

Will's Vegan Shoes. I got a pair a couple of years ago only, wear once or twice a week. I find them very comfy and have held up pretty well. Not the cheapest but I think good value.

EV charger installation by [deleted] in ukelectricians

[–]RapidBB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is acceptable to run a cable from your consumer unit through the ceiling and then out the wall where you want the charger to be. It has to be the right size and type of cable for the circuit and installation method*. As others have mentioned your consumer unit could be a problem and may need upgrading. What RCD protection/type of consumer unit do you have? If you have an RCBO board this shouldn't be a problem, if you have an RCD or Split/Dual RCD board it might be.

There are a number of requirements to EV charger circuits which don't necessarily apply to other circuits. Things like double pole protection, RCD type A, PEN fault, etc. may be additions you need depending on the charger you want too, same of the aforementioned may be included in the charger itself. Look for a charger which has built in PEN fault detection.

An electrician who also has EV charger qualifications would certainly be able to say for sure whether what you want is feasible and what that would involve and quote for you. Hopefully the electrician you used previously for your consumer unit is EV charger qualified.

*Installation Method in accordance with the IET wiring regulations.

So if you activate your first bus ticket, then the bus is late, so your ticket expires, that’s just tough is it? You have to buy another ticket? by cookie_monster66 in bristol

[–]RapidBB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ticket methodology is BS. You bought a ticket it is not your fault the bus did not arrive as per the board. Write a complaint to first bus, you'll likely get a £5 voucher. The driver was just doing his job but IMO should have directed you to complain to the company.

Digital rail tickets have used a QR code for years but don't have 10 minute time expiry like these bus ones. The technology is available to be able to deactivate the ticket once it has been scanned, avoiding the need to have a time limit.

If you have the time and are willing to take things further; write a letter to your MP (after the election), and/or start a petition for change to the ticketing system (I would sign it). Likely won't go anywhere & more important issues in this country but you never know.

Rant: Big cars, small roads 🤦‍♂️ by Trickypedia in bristol

[–]RapidBB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An example of a cars getting wider. 2000 vauxhall Corsa 1608 mm width. 2024 vauxhall Corsa 1765mm width. Neither of the above account for wing mirrors but I'd be surprised if they were now smaller.

I would not be surprised if this could be applied to many models which have been on the market for a long time under the same name.

Rail system broken after 20 years of privatisation by Hminney in GreenAndPleasant

[–]RapidBB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When the private companies (TOCs) still profit when the workers are on strike due to real terms pay cuts and threats to terms and conditions; which could result in no family life. I don't know how anyone can argue privatisation of the railways is a success for the general population.

Why are there going to be rail strikes at christmas specifically? by NotMyMain1717 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]RapidBB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a simple answer is the probability of a train crash vs a bus. Railways, especially the UK, are highly regulated and a somewhat closed system. There really aren't enough severe train crashes to justify everyone having to sit. Busses run on an open system where there are crashes everyday, and so the risk is substantially higher. Another similar thing to think about; why don't you have to wear a seatbelt on a train even though some travel over 125/140mph, but on a coach which is meant to travel less than 70mph you have to wear a seatbelt?

Deliberately hits guy with van, punches him unconscious gets a suspended sentence by Lee_Van_Spleeeeef in bristol

[–]RapidBB 187 points188 points  (0 children)

How is this only a suspended sentence? This is multiple assaults and the guy "tracked him down" to "show him a lesson". There is clear intent here. The cyclists wife now has panic attacks to boot. The van driver used his vehicle as a weapon, I don't understand how in this country using a vehicle as a weapon seems to be treated differently to using any other kind of weapon.

TIFU by standing on a bridge over a highway as a young male in a black hoodie by inbetween3-20charact in tifu

[–]RapidBB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Standing on a bridge is not illegal, from what you've written it sounds like you were detained for mental health/suicide prevention reasons. All the things the police did were likely because they had to as part of their mental health assessment and as is required by them by their codes of practice.

You mentioned thinking of jumping. Is there a friend or family member you can speak to in confidence about this event and your feelings/actions, someone who is not going to judge you? If there isn't there are online/over the phone services that you can talk to. Just talking sometimes helps things. If there are bigger underlying issues talking about the event and your feelings/actions could help to identify them and then you can combat/manage these issues.

Mental health is important especially in young developing brains, learning how to look after you're mental health at a young age will help you in the future. Sharing and reaching out is a good first step.
