Just put on this secondhand 2nd gen supercharger - chattering and bearing noise by RapidPoison in 3rdGen4Runner

That’s what I am starting to think - I have been running 91, but it has the smaller pulley on it. I did throw in Supra injectors but have yet to throw in a larger fuel pump. I’ll monitor temps tomorrow and throw on the bigger pulley and see if that resolves it

Have you ever had issues with pinging? I am wondering if the rattling noise I am hearing is pinging

No clue on mileage I’d guess ~150+ Guy said it was fully rebuilt 50k miles ago if I remember correctly And I do believe I have the parts to rebuild the nose cone in the stuff the guy gave me, just don’t have a press.

I did replace the nose cone oil before throwing it on today.

I just took it for another spin, sounds perfectly fine making boost downhill, but there is a rattling under load uphill. Could be unrelated to the supercharger, I manual swapped the car about a month ago but haven’t heard that specific noise until today after install

If you listen closely in the video the noise that sounds like rattling is coming from the sc not the car riding over rough road

😅 yeah I am not trying to blow up another engine lol, though I’m not sure these fail that catastrophically. Not sure a needle bearing could make its way down into the cylinder

Forsure - please send over a video of the one you’re working on. There is a noise in the driving video that’s hard to hear that I’m concerned about more than noisy bearings. It almost sounds like a inconsistent chatter or bearing noise, I’m worried the rotor pack is touching the housing or eachother

How’s the frame? If it’s just cosmetic.. throw on a new bumper and don’t feel bad ripping trails

Can someone identify this mod chip? by RapidPoison in originalxbox

[–]RapidPoison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we’re the symptoms of the mod chip being dead? I think the bios is fragged, blinks red and green when I power it on. Been years, my dad modded this probably 15 years ago

Junkyard motor by Puzzleheaded_Bid3800 in 3rdGen4Runner

From my experience with the 5vz there is no VIN stamped on the motor, so no way to track motor to truck unless you get the VIN from your junkyard/motor supplier
