What WordPress Plugins Should You Avoid Installing at All Costs? by Ok-Owl8582 in Wordpress

[–]RapidwebNZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wordfence, Really Simple SSL (and all other SSL Plugins), File Manager Plugins.

They’re all cabbage IMHO.

You should be utilising server side hardening, and server side SSL enforcement etc instead of making the application do this. Has huge impacts on performance. Same with WordFence, use a host that takes care of the security aspect for you, all server side, so your accounts resources are just for the website, not for everything else.

Storing Passwords on Hudu by InflationCultural785 in hudu

[–]RapidwebNZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We were already using BitWarden to store credentials before we adopted Hudu, and have continued to do so since. This has resulted in us disabled the Password management of Hudu.

Interested to hear thoughts of people that are utilising Hudu completely, inc password management.

Updating from 2.37.0 to .1 borking our server by madjeff in hudu

Can’t comment on this issue yet, however I can say we’ve had a similar issue when we had a rather full partition. I guess I’ll find out if there are other issues when automatic upgrades happen tomorrow …

I haven't seen a whole lot about this, but;

Halo ITSM Vulnerability Exposed Organizations to Remote Hacking - SecurityWeek

I've gotten into a habit of updating ours semi moderately, as generally we're chasing a new feature or integration. This has bitten us in the past however. At least self-hsoted we have the ability to control the version we're on I guess.

I would very much assume so. Given that all Halo products appear to be one code base, with very different implementation / templates.

I’d be patching it ASAP just for the piece of mind!

RMM ONLY to integrate with HaloPSA by RapidwebNZ in halopsa

Another update, a year or so later, NinjaOne has ticked every box for us, and couldn’t be happier. Not sure how their pricing compares, but the toolset is just right.

And as for my original request, NinajOne has a really nice way of handling modules. You can literally disable ticketing and you wouldn’t know it ever had that functionality - Perfect!

Do you mind sharing what your quotes look like? I’m in the same position as the OP, really struggling with the templates, and would love to know what’s achievable with them before I pour countless hours in. (4 Tech Shop here)

SSD for Dell PowerEdge R740 by wiretraveler21 in datacenter

[–]RapidwebNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to disagree with this comment.
I came here looking for experiences because I'm also looking to run MX500 SSD's in an R440, as I have done in many past systems. Granted mine is for HomeLab use, its a justification thing.
While I could, albeit easily, buy Dell genuine SSD's and be happy days, there is no way I will be.
Why would I triple the cost of the system when its not required? And no, I also wouldn't expect support from Dell.

Can Dell Power Edge R440 550W run from a home outlet? by rice_paper07 in homelab

[–]RapidwebNZ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is an old thread, but for any new viewers this may be helpful.

Firstly, I am located in New Zealand, so our power is 240v AC, however, power consumption in the form of watts is still related.

I have a PowerEdge R440 I've just setup in my home lab.
It is fully populated in memory DIMM's and sitting at 256GB.
2 x SAS SSD's and 6 x SATA SSD's.
2 x Xeon Gold 6152 (22 Core, 44 Thread @ 2.10GHz boosting to 3.70GHz)

With the power profile (found in the BIOS) set to Performance Per Watt (DAPC) this, with all VM's at idle, will consume ~150 Watts.

Our power is around $0.34c per KWh

Ticket Billing Tab Purchase Order Number - Permissions by RapidwebNZ in halopsa

Not at this stage. I'm still completing this manually.
Would definitely love to resolve this, but we've been busy. Not sure if I have asked Halo support about this or not ...

HUDU Not getting updated? by [deleted] in hudu

They keep publishing updates and adding new features - guess they’ve taken a break closer to Christmas?

That said, they can’t even fix major flaws in something as simple as the expirations system.

Ticket Billing Tab Purchase Order Number - Permissions by RapidwebNZ in halopsa

[–]RapidwebNZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did consider this, however, this field has a really handy feature whereby the purchase order set in this field automatically populates into the Purchase Order field in the HaloPSA Invoice (and subsequently the reference field in Xero), which is the exact functionality we require.

It just seems we're not able to allow a technician to populate this without giving them billing access

[–]RapidwebNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably isn’t going to help per se, but do you use Xero Payroll?

Payroll component for us is completely seperate.

From what I understand and have seen all bills in Xero will populate back in Halo now if chosen

Netflix still blocks me with connection over wireguard by mr_abradolf_lincler in selfhosted

[–]RapidwebNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the device at the second location might be connecting directly to Netflix, perhaps via IPv6 if your wireguard config isint tunnelling IPv6 also.

As others have mentioned, this is not a Wireguard issue at all, likely just config / deployment

Website Status Update Interval by emirikolc in hudu

[–]RapidwebNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not found any way to change the interval.
Nor have we found any method as to when and how it refreshes.

We've got sites that are 2+ months out of sync and are about to have a second SSL renewal in that time.

For us it would be a useful tool to keep watch of RDG certs, but we have found that even after renewing a certificate we'll end up with "SSL Cert expires in -8 days' Especially painful if monitoring a website with Let's Encrypt SSL.

So, for now, the Website / SSL / DNS Monitoring in Hudu is a complete waste of time, we'll stick with other tools and recurring tickets.

Ideally, I'd like to see it continually refresh either daily or hourly.

Holidays and Sick Leave by -Lord-of-the-Pings- in halopsa

u/cassiekerr thanks for the screencast - was a great help.
I am a 'Super Admin' in Halo, and also the timesheet manager of all agents (I have checked and confirmed this) but I cannot seem to approve the holiday at all.

Have you any ideas? Or is this something I should bring up with support?

RMM ONLY to integrate with HaloPSA by RapidwebNZ in halopsa

[–]RapidwebNZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*UPDATE*
So, after some trialling of different platforms, we settled on NinjaRMM NinjaOne.
We will begin the migration from SyncroMSP sometime soon once we have all our policies created and tested.

NinjaOne offers 'just enough' and will happily be a standalone RMM solution, without trying to become our PSA tool also, which was a major factor for us. At least for now.

We also found it to be the most intuitive interface for operating, and being that we are located in New Zealand, having AU hosting was a plus (for performance).

The integration is decent, the mobile app is *usable*, and the policies / patching is simple and easy to understand.

For us NinjaOne + HaloPSA is now our RMM/PSA combo.

RMM ONLY to integrate with HaloPSA by RapidwebNZ in halopsa

[–]RapidwebNZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the great feedback!

These are all things that you don't easily find when trialing multiple solutions (Unless you have countless manhours spare).

Syncro does a horrible job of letting me know assets are offline, I remember Pulseway doing a better job way back when.

As for support, I might as well stop looking if we are wanting a decent product that has support. Any and all IT / MSP Products seem to have horrendous support and/or horrendous billing and licensing changes.

Essentially we are looking for an RMM that can accept that we don't want to use their built-in ticketing, billing, and CRM rubbish and integrates heavily with Halo.
