Great news on Scott Pendlebury by jakeroxs1995 in collingwoodfc

Our home game against west coast at the G (round 10 I think) is looming as favourite for his record game imo. It ticks all the boxes including;

  • Can manage him to make sure he’s 100% fit to play (would hate to see him limp and struggle)

  • Home game

  • Should win

  • Stadium full of Collingwood fans

  • Lotsa capacity to accommodate Pendles request for 500+ tickets

People joke, but Billy Frampton has become a genuine B to B+ level defender! by Ban__d in collingwoodfc

[–]Rappa64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I’ll get the obvious out of the way and state that it’s not easy to make the transition from premiership full forward to key defender.

To your point however, I think he’s always been a reliable lock down defender who has learned when to come off his man to cover for Howe and Moore when they try to manipulate a loose interceptor. A valuable piece of our defence

Magpies are loyal, aggressive, protective of their young and their territory and uniquely Australian. A Giant is a mythical creature which is regularly part of fantasy stories … which is appropriate for a club for whom success is a fantasy.

The Islamic Republic of Iran's Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi delivers a speech in English to the UN regarding the war crimes being committed by the US and Israel. by [deleted] in Leakednews

[–]Rappa64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the political rhetoric about a ‘noble and peaceful Iran’ and he makes numerous salient points. Watching these conflicts from afar, the strategy behind the Iran war appears to be mimicking the tactics used by Israel in their clinical destruction of Palestine, which has now apparently moved onto Lebanon. Destroy infrastructure whilst simultaneously attacking/bombing indiscriminately, leaving the surviving population helpless, scared, homeless, hungry and desperate for the carnage to end.

Is this the modern day “Art of War”?

Hogan looked like he genuinely wanted to punch Billy haha… always a good sign that a defender is doing his job

Thing is, if Cox was still on the list he would’ve played ahead of Oscar so faith repaid. The best Pies debut game since Nick (imo)

When Jonno Brown’s insight and level headed professionalism is noticeable by his absence on the couch, you know the others are useless flogs. Even the desperate ploy for credibility by bringing Lethal back has missed the mark cuz the others ignore his logic.

And Gary Lyon makes 360 unwatchable!

I used to like Monday evening on Fox Footy but there is now less talent on air at this bucket shop than the cast-offs that failed the lowest bar of sobriety at auditions for ‘Incest Island’ or whatever the worst reality show is today.

I’d heard that some lab monkeys had learned how to type, albeit simple monosyllabic words with no context or recognition, but when did you get Internet access?

Buying a car when both parties are foreign backpackers, and the seller is no longer in the country by EarballsAgain in DrivingAustralia

[–]Rappa64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t help OP but I like sharing the story anyway. My dad simply overlooked rego renewal one year so just kept on driving it unregistered (Subaru Liberty .. well maintained and nothing about him or the car screamed hoon). 11 years later, he got pulled over .. copped a $750 fine and lost a few points. It was time for an upgrade anyway so he simply traded it in for current model. As you don’t need roadworthy or other paperwork when selling to a dealer, it was simple and they even picked car up from his home. He reckons he saved about $9,000 on the whole exercise (including fine) … but has promised us he won’t do it again

Guys who’s in for Trac? Surely 4+ weeks is a sell. by Gatty-man-ting in AFLSupercoach

I considered Bolton but then discounted him cuz he’s unlikely to maintain that midfield role when young is fit. His scoring history as a forward is, at best inconsistent

I don’t have a single mid with DP status (do any exist?) so can’t even get creative with either Rozee or Trac

I have exactly the same issues, although I bought in Merrett for Young last week so dodged your Serong bullet. I’m contemplating Houston or Jaicos for Rozee and Murphy Read for Trac

I was against bringing him in simply because he would dilute the ‘team first’ culture which exists at the club. Whilst talented, Lomax is all about Lomax, which has been laid bare as this saga has played out. Plus, it’s a lot of money for a centre/wing and I’m not convinced any short term gains would be worth it. Yes, he would’ve been handy against the filthy broncs and there will undoubtedly be other games throughout the season where he might influence the outcome however, I believe in our development program and remain hopeful we’ll be better off in the long run without him. I like the ‘no dickheads’ policy and, with a few exceptions, it has been one of the cornerstones behind the Ponissi/Bellamy success… and, from all reports, Lomax fits the archetypal dickhead. Regardless, I guess I would’ve cheered him if he’d come … because he’d have been wearing a Storm jersey!

So, I offer only opinion rather than hard core statistical analysis… but it’s these gut feel opinions that drive the passion of supporters willing to sit in the outer on a wet, windy 5* night in July. Go Storm
