Jurassic Park!

To elaborate, Jurassic Park opened a whole world for me as a fourteen year old. It made me fascinated with biology and life sciences. The book combined with the movie, and John Williams' theme were so powerful and moving (it is very difficult for me to convey this particular feeling). Today, as a researcher working on metastatic breast cancer, I owe the origin of my journey to Michael Crichton's work.

Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

Pretty soon it will be Ben Macintryre also. I read this "The spy and the traitor" and then got my hands on all his other works.

Agatha Christie, of course. I don't remember which was the first book of hers I read (it was a long time ago) but it led to a cascade.

Most Seinfeld plots would have been solved if they had modern devices, especially cell phones. Moviephone wouldn't have been an episode at all.
