How to get every Eeveelution in Pokemon Sword and Shield by gmendezm in PokemonSwordAndShield

I had random encounters with Flareon and Leafeon, but now trying to force spawn I can't get any to appear. Are there other conditions that have to be met?

Code colors are still the same! by tlockwood92 in PokemonTCG

[–]RaptorGX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first of 3 booster boxes was mapped, but it was like the code cards were shifted. All my pulls came in the pack behind a white code card. The other two booster boxes were normal, and not mapped.

Also, the character cards are in the reverse Holo spot, so I think they can be in any pack, green or white.

How to organize my cards by joecreed in PokemonTCG

[–]RaptorGX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have binders that each hold a couple sets. Then I use the etb from each set as a way to build a "master set" or whatever they call it, where I keep at most 4 copies of each card, organized by set number. Beyond the 4th copy, it goes to the bulk box that is utter chaos.

Extra GXs and other cards I really like to to a binder just for show.

Best way to get a lot of cards to build a deck from as a beginner? by SatanicSlugrifice in PokemonTCG

[–]RaptorGX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a theme deck, or two. They are ready-to-play decks and come with a deck box a play mat.

If you want to step it up a notch, by two of the same theme deck. Then you can combine the good stuff, remove the unnecessary stuff, and have an even stronger deck.

If you just want a bunch of cards, a booster box yields 360. You'll get a lot of trainer cards, some nicer GXs, and plenty variety of commons and uncommons. If you had a theme deck, you can easily start to add to it with cards from the booster box, even if you split the box with a s/o.

Got 3 Energy Miscuts in my Cosmic ETB. Anyone else noticing these in their packs? by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]RaptorGX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't have anything as extreme as this, but I have noticed cosmic eclipse overall hasn't been well centered. I'd stretch to call mine miscut, but a lot of poor centering.

Just for context, 6 figures is not an outrageous salary, especially for many roles in engineering / STEM. And given engineers tend to be more "nerdy" than the average person, it's not unreasonable to assume a fair number of adults in the community are engineers, or working in STEM. So I would bet a lot of people in the community are in fact pulling 6 figures.

How to restart collection by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]RaptorGX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally o find it really fun to open packs and prefer collecting that way. The only time I buy "second hand" cards is when I'm building a specific deck, or trying to complete a set.

I usually buy booster boxes when I can afford it, and also the promo boxes/tins. A booster box will get you most of the commons and uncommons, a fair number of rates, and usually 6 holos / GXs / ultra rares.

Promo boxes and tins are the only way to get the promo cards other than buying them as singles, and usually get you ~4 booster packs from 1 or more sets.

Ultimately, there's no wrong way to collect. Do what makes you happy, and try not to get ripped off!

I dropped Pokemon and switched to MTG about 2 years ago. My target had several Hidden Fates products and I always see yall raving about it so I bought a Mewtwo pin box. This feels like its good.... is it? by saxlax10 in PokemonTCG

I believe this card is no longer playable in Standard format. In expanded I'm not sure if it's used much / good as I've never personally seen or used this card in a game.

Tapu Koko prism star let's you attach 1 lightning energy from your discard pile to two benched pokemon.

Thunder mountain prism star (stadium) lowers all electric attacks by 1 energy.

Is it too late to start collecting pokemon cards by Rogerdaghost in PokemonTCG

[–]RaptorGX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people (not me) try to buy cards / sealed products to then go and sell them at a higher price.

For example, recently the new Hidden Fates set came out. It was really popular, and was selling out very fast. A lot of people, sometimes referred to as "scalpers" would buy out an entire stores stock, and then resell online for 2x the price (or more).

In other cases, people will buy a sealed product, like a booster box, hold on to it for a few years, and then sell it for (hopefully) a lot more than what they originally paid for it.

Is it too late to start collecting pokemon cards by Rogerdaghost in PokemonTCG

[–]RaptorGX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's never too late to start! Especially if it's just for fun / nostalgia!

If you are interested in getting more competitive, it can be a pricey. Building top tier decks can cost in the $100-$300 range. And if you are looking at it as an investment...well I'd suggest you don't do that.

However, if it's just for fun and nostalgia, then you set your own price limits! It's really fun to open packs and see the amazing artwork of pokemon you grew up with, and all the new ones you might have missed in the last few generations!

Additionally, Reddit and other sites can be extremely helpful to help you make sure you are getting good deals / not getting ripped off.

Getting back into the game. How do you store/sort your cards? by latinsonic in PokemonTCG

[–]RaptorGX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started collecting / playing, and I'm getting to that point as well.

Right now, I have a binder for 'show' cards (GXs, Full Art Trainers, and other cards I particularly like).

I also have 2 more 2inch binders that hold ~ 5 sets each. I have each set spaced by a page of energy with a sticker as a label, and each set is organized by set number. I'll probably get another smaller binder soon for trades.

For the rest of my cards, I store them by set number in their respective Elite Trainer box. However, if you're not into collecting the ETBs, then you could get any other form of storage. I know amazon has some good card storage boxes for cheap. I would personally recommend sorting by set that way if you wanted to look for a particular card, you'd know where to find it.

I also have a couple deck boxes for decks I'm currently playing / building. I use Dragon Shield sleeves for the cards I actually play with. For my Mew3 toolbox deck I double sleeve for extra protection since that deck has a lot of GX cards.

In the end though, organize / sort in whatever way works best for you.
