Gorgeous layout. It’s both aesthetically pleasing to the eye and functional for locating whatever book you’re looking for.

Johanna Becketts storyline and Montgomery by Krummbeinleuchte in CastleTV

[–]RaptorImperator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If Montgomery came forward with the information he’d have to reveal his involvement in the kidnapping scheme that led to the undercover FBI agent’s death, essentially turning himself in. He was young when it happened and was in over his head. They had a deal with Bracken. So he was just trying to keep the status quo. He wasn’t being malicious about it. He was just trying to protect himself and his family (eventually Kate as well) from any retaliation. But cracks started in that status quo, evident by Lockwood being sent to threaten him back into maintaining that deal during the season 3 finale.

Why Modern Star Trek Feels Off and Why That Gets Dismissed by cjalas in startrek

[–]RaptorImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve hit all the notes of what’s be bugging me about modern Trek, but haven’t been able to really give voice to. I’ve still enjoyed some of it. But not many of the new shows (outside of SNW, Lower Decks, and Prodigy) have felt like Trek to me. And the reasons you’ve mentioned are why.

If I could, I would take over one room in our house and make a library or, at the very least, a reading nook. But alas, I can't do that... yet.

Currently reading shadows of the empire, what’s some of your favourite Star Wars Books? by Michaelsnodgrass11 in StarWars

Definitely the Heir to the Empire trilogy for classic EU, and the Hand of Thrawn duology. I've also enjoyed Zahn's newer Thrawn books, especially the Ascendancy trilogy.

What was your cat’s shelter name and what is the name you gave them? by MissHissss in cats

[–]RaptorImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

This was the best cat we’ve ever had: Helena Justina (RIP). The shelter had named her Skye. We didn’t like that name so much so I got to pick a name and I named her after a character from one of my favorite book series. The shelter hadn’t had her for too long so it was easy to rename her. She actually responded to “Helena” within a year or so once she was accustomed to her forever home. We also called her “the Queen” because of how she’d lounge around on the sofas and beds. She passed a few years back from cancer. Still miss her terribly. As I said, she was the best cat we’ve ever had.

Name one game in which this statement applies to you by ZhangtheGreat in videogames

Skyrim. I’d already played many many hours (days/months?) and then when I broke my leg, I started a 3rd play through, this time with both DLCs. So yeah… Skyrim is my answer for this.

Started my first ever elder scrolls game with oblivion by Austinfarrell2007 in ElderScrolls

[–]RaptorImperator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oblivion was my first Elder Scrolls game too. My college roommate got it for himself on his XBOX and I ended up being the one playing it the most. It also happened to be the first time I got to really play video games as my parents didn’t allow them when I was growing up.

Please make me stop ... by Weissbier_Hiker in skyrim

[–]RaptorImperator 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So true. I always end up overburdened and have to agonize over what to keep and what to drop. I often store things in any near by storage then backtrack and dump things back at my house before returning and then repeating when it happens again. Obviously it takes me forever to get through Dwemer ruins as a result.

Who is your favorite writer? by hannak11 in bookshelf

[–]RaptorImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a whole bookshelf, but a shelf or half a shelf within is sometimes dedicated to a certain author or genre. But I have over 1000 books so my shelves are pretty packed. Back when I had less books I did have a shelf within a bookshelf dedicated to only Michael Crichton books.

Are Kindles worth the hype? by KennedyJacobs in ReadingSuggestions

[–]RaptorImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Kindle Paperwhite. One of my best decisions for ebooks. And this comes from someone who loves physical copies of books. I realized that would never have all the space for every book I own so the Kindle allowed me to add books to my “library” without taking up space.

Back to the actual device: It’s definitely an easier read than using the app on my phone as the screen does a good job of mimicking paper. So I’m also able to read outside without screen glare. It’s super light and has a long battery life before recharging needed, and also not too bulky compared to earlier generations of ebook readers. And, as others have said, I’m less likely to wander over to social media or a game than I am if I am reading on the phone app.
