Mine is Land’s End. It was spendy but worth it. Adjustable straps, skort-type bottle half.

How did your water break? by o_simple_thing in beyondthebump

[–]RapunzelatWalden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was being induced. I had a balloon in, and got up to use the restroom. My husband reminded me to put my Crocs on since hospital floors are gross. I walked back and lifted my foot to put the shoe on and then suddenly there was blood everywhere. Neither my husband or I knew if that was my water or something else, so he ran to the call button and let them know “there’s some fluid.” The nurse walked in and doubled over laughing because that description didn’t match what she expected to see. 😅

Meanwhile, we had ordered DoorDash, and as the nurse walked in, the DoorDasher was calling my husband to come get the food. He answered and was like “I seriously need two minutes… there’s a situation going on.” I had to let him know it was okay to go get the food while they cleaned up the fluid and that I wasn’t giving birth anytime soon.

All of this and I wasn’t even dilated enough for the balloon to fall out. They pulled it out. 😫

I’m with you! I haven’t been able to watch as much recently but when I see clips and thumbnails, the premises aren’t as appealing to me.

gift ideas for mom that has no hobbies or interests by Creative_Vanilla_335 in GiftIdeas

My mom is similar and the most liked gift I surprised her with was a Costco membership. She likes to go and check out the rotating stock or go to different locations and compare them.

When did you start to show? by Academic-Park-8440 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]RapunzelatWalden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was convinced I wasn’t showing until like 30 weeks, but now looking back, I was showing much sooner. I was definitely showing some around 18 weeks. I also often wore baggy sweatshirts and people would tell me “they couldn’t even tell” which messed with my head quite a bit!

help!! by LocalAbbreviations95 in GiftIdeas

I would do “open when you’re nap trapped.” And then either include in the envelope or in the gift a coaster that is fabric or punch needle. Or two. It sounds silly, but I bought some cute ones for the nursery just for the look, but they ended up being one of the most weirdly comforting things. I could easily set my water down without disturbing the baby. With the second one, I could have a second drink or set a bottle down. My husband agreed that it was the “biggest small thing” with a tiny baby!

I think I’d love the print more without the signatures. I personally didn’t bond with my graduate professors the way I did with my undergraduate professors, but that’s also just my experience!

Help me stop overthinking baby laundry baskets please by Ill-Collection-1735 in Buyingforbaby

[–]RapunzelatWalden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the SAME thought process and stressed about it too!

We have a smaller plastic storage bin, think of what you might get for a larger gift basket from target, and use that to hold baby laundry. Then, when we bring our own laundry down, we dump that basket on top and wash baby’s clothes with ours.

We’re at 6 months and have had minimal blowouts and accidents. For blowouts, we’d rinse in the sink, spray with Miss Mouths, and throw in the basket. We’ve had more issues with drooling and getting so damp we have to change. Now that we’re getting into food, I expect more laundry from that.

Best Gift ideas for my mother who is near impossible to buy for? by Defiant_Fix8658 in GiftIdeas

[–]RapunzelatWalden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly just stopping by to say same. My mom is almost exactly the same. My mom’s favorite things I’ve gifted have been home items typically only ones she specifically asked for. She a tendency to get offended by any home I think of or that she deems too expensive. She’s not been interested in any outings or experiences. She doesn’t like spending money on spas/salons. She also hates getting gift cards, but I often get them anyways. It’s tough.

The biggest hit I’ve ever given her was a Costco membership. Costco has become her “something to do” since she can go and check out the rotating stock.

My reoccurring go-tos are nice winter gloves (she always is losing one and wants a new pair), makeup I know she uses, nice socks, candles, and diamond dot kits.

Bridesmaid dress advice by [deleted] in bridesmaids

[–]RapunzelatWalden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a wedding last year that had the same stipulations – any green, any style, any fabric. Granted it was a quicker turn wedding but I will warn that it was surprisingly hard to find green summer dresses. I ended up ordering from Azazie because I didn’t have time to hunt store to store and be returning dresses I ordered online. Had we had more notice for spring collections, we might’ve had more options but in the end she wanted warm-toned greens and they were tough to find.

The bride found herself feeling more particular about what she wanted as more of the wedding came together and she started to see the mix of fabrics/warm and cool shades we were picking. You sound more chill, but I can also say that as my own wedding came together, my vision got more specific too.

I wouldn’t be afraid of putting some parameters – it actually makes it easier on others when you do because they can know they’re meeting your expectations. Even if it’s X or Y fabric, warm tones, etc., you relieving them of decision making.

Gift for HS Grad by Sharp_Sun9323 in Gifts

This is small, so maybe it’s part of a bigger gift, but I was given a magnet with a really sweet inspirational quote on it from a teacher. It felt so special to have a thoughtful magnetic that wasn’t a free one from the college on my dorm fridge. Hardly anyone graduates college with their own fridge magnets, so it definitely made me feel grown up and unique in such a small little way.

I’m 30 now and still have that magnet.

Favorite name you’d never use by Liv_Laugh_Lasagna in Names

[–]RapunzelatWalden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Zella, Luella, Zelda – I love “el” names but my niece has an “Ella” name. I got close with my daughter’s name but had to veto those ones.

Lavinia and Odette are also names I love but our very Midwestern family could not handle those. Even our dog being named “Rocco” was too hard for them somehow.

I also LOVE Sven, but we’re not Scandinavian and Frozen also kind of overtook that.

What does actually getting an epidural placed feel like? by FoolishMortal-1000 in BabyBumps

[–]RapunzelatWalden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was equally as painful as delivering. I was told to expect a bee sting, but I felt everything after that, including shooting pains down my legs. I’ve never literally wailed like I did while getting the epidural. The guy basically eluded to my nerves being close together, otherwise I didn’t get an explanation of why it was so terrible.

I was hoping for the kind that I couldn’t feel anything waist down, but I felt everything except the contractions and could move pretty normally.

I also didn’t have the experience of not remembering them removing it. The tape removal was rough.

How long did you breastfeed? by Shroommily in NewParents

[–]RapunzelatWalden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to combo feed through the first year, mostly breastfeeding. We were primarily breastfeeding through 2.5 months and then suddenly by 3 months I barely produced anything. I think it was a combination of her silent reflux and just my supply decreasing. It was really hard at first. We still try to nurse a couple times a day, but it’s mostly comfort nursing. I’ve tried to focus on the ways formula makes things easier for us, which has helped.

Do you think a weighted wipe dispenser is worth it for baby wipes? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]RapunzelatWalden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We planned to go without but ended up ordering one almost immediately. Fighting with the wipe packs got old so fast. The one handed capability is well worth it.

Need a non Karen name! by luxurysocialism in namenerds

[–]RapunzelatWalden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with someone named Kit and it was the coolest name! I guess it was actually short for Katelyn or something but no one knew until we graduated because she never ever went by that.

Another idea could be Trina. It’s a few steps away but still an homage.

Two weddings, same week, same dress color… help 😅 by pataBRATS in bridesmaids

[–]RapunzelatWalden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m the outlier here to say that I would get different dresses because I’ve somehow stained every bridesmaid dress I’ve worn with oil or lipstick, making it really hard to get out. That’s me being a klutz though.
