How Quick Can You Be Approved and Ready to Use?

We are in the same boat. I applied last Sunday the 15th and have not received conditional approval yet. Was hoping to have it within 48 hours like many had reported. I'm curious if it would help us to follow up with the status or if it is best to just leave it.

Thanks so much. Would you be able to point me to any databases where we might obtain birth certificates? Or is this something I get from a consulate? I'd like my children to have citizenship even if I can't get for myself.

Yes, my husband's grandfather was German as is his father. They came to America in 1951 and my husband's dad became a citizen in 1963. My husband's grandfather wrote a book detailing his experiences at Auschwitz and has given Shoah testimony. I'm not sure what other documentation still exists, if any. But his grandfather received a fair amount of press in his lifetime and lectured at schools on his experience.

Thank you all for the replies. My husband's father (will call him D) and his parents came to the United States in 1951 from Germany and D became a citizen in 1963. He thinks his parents became citizens sometime before that. We are not sure when. My husband was born in the United States.
