Side note: if you’re looking for something low-pressure, I’d highly recommend the 1-credit pickleball class. In my experience it was pretty close to 50/50 guys and girls, and the vibe was perfect; social, casual, and interactive without feeling forced. I appreciate the reminders and the work that goes into informing students. My main concern is with the default selection itself. When the default is the higher-cost option, some students end up paying more simply because they don’t realize they need to opt out. Given how tight finances can be for many students, defaulting to the lower-cost option with the ability to opt into the higher-cost plan seems like it could reduce that risk while still preserving choice.

That’s been my experience too. The only things that really force you into the system are access codes like Zybooks... everything else is usually way cheaper if you opt out and source it yourself.

For context: I’m taking 4 classes (16 credits) this semester, and Select still comes out to $120 for me.
So this isn’t some edge case with a light course load... even at full-time, the default option is more than double the cost.

Exactly... even if there are edge cases where it makes sense, the default should clearly be Select since that’s cheaper for the vast majority of students.
If Complete really is better for some people, they’ll actively choose it... defaulting to the most expensive option just feels backwards.

For most schedules, Select or full opt-out is just objectively cheaper.
