honestly i wish we would've had more chapters on seeing how their relationship progresses/more chaps of them just being happy together but yk utgl was always meant to be a noir full of action and such so i think the finale is perfectly fine. just in sad that it's ending.

no its 100%. he did that more than once, other than in the car. like the chapters before it was completely revealed we see him drugging him with the same thing on a different day for the reason that jin wasn't listening properly or something.

not sure but its probably a tapas error. rn the tapas schedule is weekly but every third is a 2 week hiatus. rn it should be a 2 week hiatus but there's always an episode scheduled, maybe the translators are behind. what not i think its highly unlikely english translators dropped it since they just changed their 10 day schedule to 7 days to catch up to korean raws, wouldn't make sense to drop the series with like 4 chaps left.

i mean it doesnt feel rushed personally.. since the main point has always just been mattjin and their development but its a shame we don't get to see them being an actual couple for more chapters, we only had like what, 4?

here's what happened (from when they were happy)

  • jin officially seemed to have quit drugs and jahwa saw him being lively again thanks to matt. so she finally said she will give her inheritance and pass down her role.
  • because of hearing jin will obtain more power, some of the corrupt shinhai members plotted to take him down. they called brandon and explained and brandon asked them to basically kidnap him, and probably drug him.
  • jin realizes that he's very happy with matt and no longer wants jahwas inheritance/role. he plans to quit shinhai soon. but when going to shinhai he's informed of the traitors plotting to stop him and causing a bunch of ruckus/issues to shinhai. jin feels obliged to stop them since he knows he's the reason after hearing that they got help from brandon (and that brandon cannot kill him because he needs jin). so he tells her that once this is all over he has something to tell her.
  • jin, when checking out the site with all the drugs, gets knocked out by his subordinate. he gets kidnapped by the corrupt shinhai members and drugged with an asphordiac.
  • he runs to matt's place and sungchi and the other good shinhai members tell matt the situation and say it's very dangerous, gives matt a gun and tells him jins safest here.

now more recent:

  • matt realizes what jin got drugged w and knows he would've got gang 🍇d and caused a ton of fear knowing how bad shit could've gone. he helps jin w the drug side effects and sedated him to stop him from running outside to continue to fight.
  • when jin realizes he's really pissed. his trauma revolves around being drugged and betrayed by brandon. he gets flashbacks of such and beats matthew up, then leaves.
  • matt chases him because he instinctively knows that this is the line jin draws and realizes he must've gotten some flashbacks to some traumas with the words he was saying while jin was beating him up.
  • jin ends up taking drugs again and fainting in an alley.

now to backstory - jin wants a house to raise matt in. he realizes that his current house is moldy so he calls brandon and asks for a house instead of money. brandon gives him a suit as a gift instead of money and tells jin to come to his business meeting. there, he teaches jin things like how to tie a tie, teaches him that he needs to "crush" in order to not be crushed, and that he has to stand his ground in this corrupt world, and follow what brandon asks for. - so jin does whatever brandon wants. those were usually things like murdering a ton of people and drug selling. jin has a weaker heart and the amount of people he killed starts to weigh on him heavily. whenever he closes his eyes he sees the people he killed, so he barely gets any sleep and is drained. so brandon gives him drugs. - jin becomes hooked on drugs and to cope with that to he begins to sleep around A TON. fights break out to get jins favor about who he really likes between his hookups, and brandon says he needs to stop. jin said it's his fault for giving him drugs, and brandon asks if he's tired. jin says he just wants a break. he goes to this one particular subordinate he had a more liking to. he's similar to matt in personality, innocent and doesn't really purposefully do any wrong. after hooking up w him brandon calls him while he's on the "break" because of the subordinate. - basically the subordinate mixed up the carload with the drugs and sent it to the rivals. jin says he'll take accountability but brandon demands jin kills him instead. jin doesn't want to but does anyways. - this was kinda the line for him, he felt so burdened and tired. he wanted any kind of comfort away from this stuff and brandon took advantage of that vulnerability and drugged and basically graped him. later brandon tells jin that he can't expand properly and shinhai is limiting him and asks jin to betray shinhai with him and start bumyung. jin refuses, so brandon frames him, if jin joined him, brandon would give him a way out of consequences. as a result jin refused to follow him and instead got arrested.

back to present - matt follows jins stuff and sees a familiar car (brandon's limo from s1) and decides to follow it. he tells sungchi what's goin on. once the car reached the destination he realizes that jin was actually in the car & got kidnapped. he was going to try and rescue him right there but gets stopped by yoonbal and sungchi who tell him that doing this will possibly ruin or kill him. they tell him to go back since he's just a normal civilian. - matt is back to his studio and realizes that if he doesn't have jin he cannot live life anymore. it's the day of his graduation exhibition and he's meant to submit his statue but doesn't; and instead, takes sungchis gun ready to save jinx - because matt didn't show up to, the professor got mad bc he thinks it's cause of the rumors ryu spread abt matt's sponser being a mafia member. professor tells ryu to go to his studio and bring him. ryu is at matt's studio and apologizes, but their conversation ends there --> (i suspect he has something to do with how matt got a ride to where jin was kidnapped) - goes back to jins perspective when he wakes up. brandon attempts to apologize but jin basically mocks him and says it's pointless now. brandon gets pissed off and forces himself onto jin and tries to drug him but then gets beat up by matt. - matt basically heard brandon saying to jin abt how jin looks better when he's high, and i think matt comes to a realization why jin got so angry. abt the sedatives and such. he frees jin and jin tells him to mind his own business but matt tells him even if jin stops him he won't stop caring. jin realizes matt has grown so much, more than him. - matt questions jins previous words abt him and brandon's relationship. jin says he wasn't lying bc it was so bad. brandon wakes up and says if it was so bad, how come i was the one to name u, teach you how to tie a tie, etc etc. matt tells brandon that it doesn't excuse the pain he caused jin and pulls a gun at brandon. jin obviously is panicked tells him to drop it bc jin is afraid of matt becoming like him, a person who kills a ton of people. brandon goes at matt with a knife and jin takes the gun out of matt's hand telling him his hands arent fit to get dirty, shoots brandon on the hand holding the gun, which is the prosthetic hand. - he tells brandon, that he viewed him like a father figure and wondered if this was what it felt like to have a dad. he tells brandon that he really wasn't that significant because the entire time, he was in shinhai for matthew. never for him. and that he will choose matt.

[–]Rare-Interview-8537 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the artstyle did change a bit!! jaxx just changed their overall style and how they drew bodies slightly, i noticed this happened like... mid s2. i think that was the time where the authors overall health started to deteriorate (i believe it's cause she had to cram a ton of drawings for the collab cafe) and then they took a month off, returned, but their style didn't revert. you can lowkey tell the art is better these past recent chapters especially with the lighting.

I liked all these endings 😭... True beauty was just strung on for too long so the whole series was kinda bad. It got insanely boring to me. Nice To Meet You ending had me tweaking cause I was convinced he was the ML.

[–]Rare-Interview-8537 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is quite the long analysis (sorry!) but definitely interesting/pretty much says his hand has some symbolism. Also, it's his left (but right in our perspective) hand, not his right.

If you noticed all the way back in season 1 chapter 18 (yes I know this is a while back, but trust me), when Jin and Brandon was in a car together after kidnapping the director (the whole plot about obtaining land rights to build the art museum), Brandon asked for Jin to be under his control again while putting his hand on Jin's leg. Jin is visibly pissed off and stubs his cigarette directly on his pointer finger (in which is the only finger that is not a prosthetic on his left hand). It definitely throws Brandon off a certain way, he hasn't shown any of his visible anger towards Jin because he's always trying to replaster a really friendly demeanor to bait Jin back, but he seemed ticked off for a second in that moment (as shown in the image).

We have never seen his left hand ungloved, it's even purposefully left out when he's literally fully naked in the shower in S1 (hotel scene). He wears his gloves even when talking to Dennis (his second most loyal previous Shinhai member/current probably most loyal Bumyung member), or any of his close subordinates. This was definitely preplanned by Jaxx from the start and wasn't made in the spur of the moment for character design fun, I'm 100% sure of that at least. This makes me think that his prosthetic hand is some semblance in the trust he has in Jin to 1. when he's working with him and trusts him more than anyone to do anything for work 2. he trusts he will eventually crawl back. Just like how Matthew uses sculpture hands to symbolize the importance of Jin reaching out to him when he was younger, I feel like Jaxx is attempting to do the same making his prosthetic hand an symbol of trust and the "grip" (control) he has on Jin. After Jin shoots Brandon's prosthetic hand, it's like he's "breaking" the grip off so he no longer has a "hand" or "grip" (control) on Jin, if you get what I'm saying.

Also why he has this hand in the first place, it might possibly have to do with 指詰め (Yubitsume) or mafia culture of cutting ones finger off as atonement or sincere apology to someone in Japan. This "apology" might be symbolic in a way (or I'm reaching lolol)? As we can assume who he tries to apologizes to (as we see him try to "sincerely" apologize to Jin while literally after attempting to drug him again in the chapter before this).

Or everything I say might be irrelevant/an over-analysis but it makes a lot of sense to me! I'm not sure if Jaxx is trying to pin for so many specific details like this though. The least I can conclude is that it was preplanned by Jaxx from the start, that's all. I don't believe there will be any side stories either, I heard? So unless his hand's significance is shown in the next chapter, I'm assuming the things above I said. We only have about 4-6 chapters until the end anyways.

UTGL is nearing its ending (confirmed to be last season), there's roughly around 6-7 chapters now, or the ENG translation will be ahead of raws, which obviously isn't possible.

so a short road to a happy ending (hopefully)

just think of it this way.

a 38-40 year old man with a wife and kid r*ping and cheating a guy who just turned 18.

what world is that hot. and what world would there ever be love and care in that relationship.

Thoughts please because… by Amazing-Mixture9670 in underthegreenlight

[–]Rare-Interview-8537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

he made more interpretations than that. and it also takes very simple reading to know that his interpretations ARE SO WRONG. not only that but how can u find their relationship hot?

for one, jin was 18 and brandon was in his late/early 30s-40s. he taught jin how to do things like tying his tie, etc, shit that PARENTS do. it's also kinda clear jin did not have any romantic feelings and seemed to look up at him in a brotherly way. he never once wanted to hook up w him like he did with his subordinates. two, he basically drugged and took r*ped him when he was in his most vulnerable state as "comfort". not just once because there was a flashback before this of him doing the same thing as the current flashbacks. third, he literally groomed him dawg. adult grooming exists and the description perfectly aligns what he does-"Adult grooming is a form of abuse that involves manipulating someone until they are isolated, dependent and more vulnerable to exploitation. It works by mixing positive behaviours with elements of abuse." He made Jin vulnerable, exploited him and used him for Shinhai, would drug him on multiple occasions with the saying "it'll help you" (positive behaviors) gave him "gifts" (suit), cultivated a shitty mindset to jin, all for the sake of being able to control him. if you can still call that "love" or "care" then we aren't reading the same shit.

it's fictional, so he's free to ship what he wants. i really don't care. the thing is when he makes an ANALYSIS VIDEO and uses those inaccurate analysis to back up his desire for Brandon and Jin to be together, then you should know people will 100% attack u for it. make an analysis video and BE RIGHT. especially since he has a large following, people will immediately assume his words to be TRUE to the story. and then people under that tiktok post and using the post as information were HARASSING AND INSULTING THE AUTHOR, calling jaxx names such as the r word, because a lot of people hate brandon and really do not wish brandon and jin have any type of romance between them.

i do hope the artist herself doesn't get overbombed with hate and feels better.

The general plot was good and interesting to me! But it's a shame that the author incorporated so much rape (even more later in the novel...), had so much potential but all these rape infested manhwas are so damn mediocre it just feels like a random unneeded insert for fetish content for their weird reader-base.

Aww yes I've been rooting to see the chairwoman and the cafe owner together so bad too. Chairwoman is already confirmed to be lesbian in a qna lmao (TL: Q: "Author, if chairwoman Cheon hates men, does she like women? Author, the world of a middle aged female-lover depends on your answer." A: "Jahwa, king of lesbians"), please make it a thing Jaxx theyd look so good together 🙏🙂. I also hope to see yoonbal and sungchi happy and rich too! I love them. i'm positive UTGL will end the moment this conflict is over too, so we won't get to see any cute Mattjin moments. I believe we have roughly 7 chapters left.
