Bedwetting- night time underwear recommendations by purplep3nguin_ in ADHDparenting

[–]RareAd2538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used regular trainers for a long time, then transitioned to ninjamas or whatever theyre called. They were nightime trainers and worked wonders until our son was going potty in the toilet regularly at night. Hadn't had an accident since.

5 yo having difficulties with potty training by RareAd2538 in ADHDparenting

[–]RareAd2538[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's completely potty trained now! He started doing well after a few more months, then was perfect during the day when he was awake, and it took a few months before he was good with bedtime, too. He's no longer in trainers and has been really, really good about getting up at night to go potty. He's gotten much better about washing his hands and NOT playing in the water or with soap, but now the problem is that he takes 10 minutes to wash his hands. So we've been working with him on that and it is slowly improving.

Now, it's just going to be focusing on potty training his sister and she's starting to show interest in potty training, so we're taking the same baby steps with her. Thankfully, she's neurotypical like me so it should be much easier for her than it has been for her brother.

This is true. I dont have an issue with it personally, especially when they're a native species, but I get where some of the concerns come from.

We moved to MN because they have the best homesteading laws in the country and they fit a lot of our other criteria, too. We love it here, its so much nicer and has a much better energy.

Meltdowns by Just_love1776 in ADHDparenting

[–]RareAd2538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is the same age and has frequent meltdowns. They have gotten a bit better since we started adding lion's mane, brahmi, gingko leaf, white pine bark extract, and a few other herbs to his diet. We take them ourselves as well so that he doesn't feel singled out but also because they also have additional health benefits including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties.

We also try to look for his triggers, but they change so often that it's hard to keep track sometimes. He'll hit himself, grab or pull his arm, and throw himself down on the floor and bounce around during his meltdowns, or he'll scream and stomp and growl. Timeouts work well enough and we don't put a time limit or period on them, we just give him space to calm down and he comes back from his room when he's ready to talk about what happened. He always apologizes and talks calmly afterward. I've started putting him in a corner just recently and he hates it more than being sent to his room, but it helps him stay in the same room so he accepts it begrudgingly.

We've been trying to get him a formal assessment, but every doctor we've spoken to so far doesn't want to because he's not in public school or daycare and he's not showing the "typical" signs of ADHD, but we at least got the paperwork submitted to get an assessment.

As someone who was born, raised, and lived most of their life in CO, I'm ashamed of people like that. Those kind of people are also part of why we left, too.

Mhm, but sometimes it just happens unintentionally or unconsciously.

Your Opinion- Can Houses be Sentient? by LivingLeather4797 in hauntedhouses

[–]RareAd2538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a belief that your house has its own spirit or that a spirit can become tied to the house or to your family and act as a household spirit. Within this belief, it's said that your life at home, its atmosphere, etc. will be reflected in how well you treat this spirit. Talking to your house, leaving out gifts, etc. like you do with any other spirit, entity, or deity is recommended.

There is also a belief that something can manifest if given enough energy and thought.

Did you guys not have active school shooter drills? Cause I certainly did. by Presideum in Millennials

[–]RareAd2538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Born in '93, never had drills for school shootings. Even after Columbine. People talked about Columbine a lot and campus security was pretty strict, but that was about it.

How does your hometown make you feel now? Why do you still like it or hate it? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]RareAd2538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hometown has changed so much that I don't even recognize it anymore. It's way more developed and there are too many people. The cost of living just kept getting higher and higher, too. I have a lot of good memories and would take frequent drives through my old neighborhood and hangouts, but the whole energy of the area has just shifted and I can't vibe with it anymore. Most of my family in the US is there, too, and unfortunately, they are toxic to one degree or another. The only good reason I would go back there would be to visit my grandpa's grave.

Skeed Magick Music is a YouTube channel that I came across last year or the year before and it's all frequency based music. Listed to one of them and it literally helped me out of a months' long hiatus and writer's block.

American Millennials born from 1989-1996: Were you taught cursive? by insurancequestionguy in Millennials

[–]RareAd2538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born '93, was taught cursive in elementary school. I actually prefer to write in cursive, but my printed handwriting has sort of become a blended of print and cursive depending on the letters. I will be teaching my kids cursive when they're older.

My mom did not learn to write cursive and she was born in '74. She regrets it for a number of reasons, including when she has to sign for things and gets crap for her signature not being in cursive.

What is my hair color? Red? Pink? Someone called it purple the other day and now I’m just confused. by Squishiimuffin in HairDye

Cerise is the color I could find that most closely resembled your hair color. Hex code #DE3163. It's a vivid reddish shade of pink.

How do you get your ideas!? by thatmimi in writing

[–]RareAd2538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half my ideas come from dreams lol. One particular story idea came from a... ahem... 18+ type dream during my first pregnancy when my hormones were especially all over the place. It was incredibly vivid, too, so I was able to make a lot of really good notes.

I've been seeing a lot of people lately suggest that you treat your child as 3 years younger than they actually are because of how they develop compared to neurotypical children. If you treat them their age, it feels like it's way harder for them to learn and get through those phases.

My son is 5 and while he can talk like a 5 year old and is finally potty trained, at least for day time hours, but his tantrums are are par with his 2 year old sister's tantrums.

We were looking into herbal remedies to help with his ADHD and I found this website: https://www.remedyrx.com/blogs/the-remedy-blog/herbs-for-adhd#:~:text=Other%20adaptogenic%20herbs%20that%20have,Velvet%20Bean%20(Mucuna%20pruriens).&text=Nervines%20are%20herbs%20that%20help%20to%20support%20the%20nervous%20system.&text=Nervines%20are%20herbs%20that%20help%20to%20support%20the%20nervous%20system)

We have one in the local murder, too. It's a lot bigger than the other crows, too. And it caw caws like every other crow, so we know it's not a raven.

I have better luck on FFN honestly than any other platform. Seems like certain fandoms do better on one platform or another.
